Default Biking, lifting and recovery drinks/food

hi everyone,

I've been lurking around this board for a couple of months now, and I keep reading about NROL. I finally gave in to curiousity and went out to order it from amazon. It should be here in the next few days.

In the mean time, I'd like to get your opinions on the following matter. I finally took up biking seriously. Now I cycle to the gym every time I got there. Going there is fine as its mostly downhill. Coming back however is a bit of a pain as its majorly uphill.

I'm wondering when would be the best time to eat a recovery meal? Right after lifting (a shake) and then another (meal) after the ride up? Or just take a recovery shake after getting back and then a meal an hour later?

By the way, I'm trying to bulk, and have been cycling calories with some success (high caloric intake on lifting days, slightly lower on off days). How should I adjust this?

Drink the PWO drink, then eat again after you shower at home.

When you say "I'm trying to bulk, and have been cycling calories with some success," what do you mean by "some success?"

Also, are you cycling with a plan of your own, or one you read somewhere?

Here are a couple to read up on...

I'm using my own approach based on t-nation's Carb Cycling Codex. I just keep the fat and protein intake the same, and reduce 300 calories worth of carbs (75g of carbs) on non-workout days.

By some success I mean, I've been able to gain 0.5kg per week for the last couple of months. I did have some drop in weight during those periods, but those are usually after a long flight so I was probably dehydrated or my body is stressed with the change in time zones/work schedule.
