Not sure who caught the Discovery special on aging, I saw it for the first time this morning. Discovery followed some centurions testng many aspects of their bodys, as well as things like dexteroty balance, and even brain atrophy. I believe it was in Japan for the most part.
It seemed bone density through varies forms of exercise was a key to long life (what a suprise). The individuals had quite low impact exercise. One lady danced traditional Japanese, another man ran, and still active in the 10k marathons at 102 years old (if memory serves.) Very encouraging.
Diet was also observed. Appearing to be low calorie, or calorie resticted. Food sources coming from friuts and vegetables with milder proteine sources coming from fish and occaissional chicken. (It was Japan though).
Also in my local news this week, studies showing restricted calorie intake extending life span. 2500 calories restricted to 1850 as an example.
Question What is superior, muscle strength, muscle endurance, explosive power?? What should the healthy active individual be pursuing if the goals are aging with grace?

There havent been any studies on humans regarding restricted caloric consumption and longevity, and such studies have been performed in animals very different from us.
There also havent been any studies touting which method of resistance is superior. If you eat well and get off your butt, then you can do japanese dancing or o-lifting. Whatever keeps you dedicated and motivated.

(Quick tip: I think your sig line was meant to use the word "barely" and not "barley.") I know, picky, picky.
