Default Bench press volume

So.. i wanted to try chest flies, just to see if they work out for me.

I had planned to do bench press 3x a week 3x5, but now i have changed my mind slightly, i want to do bench press 2x a week and do some chest flies too. Could i then drop the volume a bit and do 2x5 instead and then do 2x12 of flies?

I would keep volume on the BPs because flies are not a good substitute.

I agree, flies are a waste in my opinion. You'd be better off to stick with the bench press, but vary your volume each workout. For example, instead of 3x5 every day, do 3x5 one day, 5x3 the next, then 4x6, then a light 2x8 for a deload, or something like that. Doesn't have to be those exact numbers by any means, there's tons of ways to do it, but you want to vary your sets and reps every workout when using the same exercise.
