Default What's a lying lateral raise?

What's a lying lateral raise? I'm starting Hartman's Dynamic Tension Reloaded and I want to confirm that I am doing the right exercise.

I found it about 3 pages down. Sorry I can't delete the thread.

Great workout! First story I ever worked on with Bill, I think.

IIRC, it's a side-lying lateral raise, though. You'll have to ask Bill for exact directions b/c I don't remember his instructions.

Check out the side-lying abduction to 45 degrees in this article (incidentally, my first at T-Nation, too):

http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=459577

You'd just do full ROM for the lateral raise version.

Thanks for the tips. I enjoyed the article Eric. I'll admit at first blush this routine looked easy. Then you do it. Wow! This could easily be a hidden gem.

Plus the looks you get holding the weight in the mid point of the lift for upward of 20 seconds is fun.

Ha! I was just thinking the same thing. I'm about 40 pounds heavier right now - and the scary part is that I had already gained about 65 pounds by that point (loooonnng story).

That picture makes me hungry.

Yeh, eat away my precious, eat until you have to be rolled out of the house. That way your co-efficient on the deadlift will fall and I may be able to sneak ahead. Mind you, you would have to gain a fair bit, say another 600lbs?

Bill,

Since your reading the thread I have question about the wording in the article.

My understanding of the article is that the intention is 1A and 1B are done as alternating sets with 1 minutes of rest. When you get to the end you do 1A rest and then do 1A Hold then you move on to 1B and 1B hold. Is that correct?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Should I consort with that type of exercise? It might give people the wrong impression of my moral fiber.

As long as you get your 30 grams a day of moral fiber, you should be all right.

Is that the government recommended dosage?

We ought to start a collection of these:

Bench press: When the judge presiding over your murder trial wants to knock off early and pressures you to plead guilty.

Pullup: What you have to wear when urinary incontinence finally makes boxer shorts impractical.

Kickback: What you hope the boss who gave you that lying lateral raise slips into your pay envelope around Christmas time.

We could title it the innuendo workout.
