have any of you guys read this book? "serious strength training" i got it as a gift for helping my friend with some stuff in his house, because he knows how i like to weight train. its filled with scientific stuff, but every pic is filled with juiced up bodybuilders. so that kind of lost my interest in the book, i just wanted to know ur opinions.
Sounds like all the Muscle Magazines that are out there as well. Even though alot of the routines may be crap there is generally some tid bits of information that you can glean from reading them. Anything that keeps you interested in lifting can't be all bad.
The book by Tudor Bompa right? Not exactly a muscle mag at all. Bompa is pretty damn smart. I have it, it wasn't my favorite of his books (periodization for sport is great) but you will definatly learn from it and you can't beat the price.

Robert Kennedy MuscleMag International, Oxygen, and American Health & Fitness
Eh, that book was a waste of money IMO. I have it, and it didn't really strike me as all too informative. Bompa is definitely a smart guy and as Danny alluded to, Periodization for Sport is actually quite good
I have the book. I was a newbie then and followed the hypertrophy periodization routine. I had great gains & looks after every 3rd & 6th weeks. Here are the weekly reps that I did- 12/15/10/12/10/8.
Whenever I repeat the whole cycle, I get overtrained. My mistake was not having a rest period. People always ask me, why is your body always different every week. Lean on week1 to muscular on 3rd week
If you want to have a "pumped" look, in 6 weeks, I suggest you try it.
What I don't like about is I never stay pumped or muscular for long.
well yea, tudor bompa wrote the book. i want to get a slight muscular build. but this book seems to be geared toward proffesional bodybuilders. the only thing that intrigued me is that every proffesional compliments bompa. ian king himself did, cant remember where though.
