This is a milestone for me. Or, is that a millstone. Hard to keep that straight. Ah, well. Grist for the mill, but I digress...
I'd like to thank the foreign press. Not THE foreign press (i.e., the Foreign Press) of course (that's a different show), but merely the press in other countries. Particularly that press in the Dominion of Canada and the Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
Must be millstone. Yes, I'm sure of it. Almost positive.
Anyway, back to me. I've come a long way, my brothers and sisters, in the past 4,011 posts (not including those mystery posts, lost and/or duplicated, during that time of which we do not speak (please, t'was an ugly period on jpfitness.com)).
I suppose "milestone" is more positive. Millstone is surely not good. Milestone it is!
Where was I? Me. Yes.
As I look down at the little clock in the lower right hand corner of my Windows XP (home edition) task bar, I see that it's 12:34 AM. Hovering my cursor over that same clock tells me that it's "Tuesday, July 04, 2006." I ask you. Is it not serendipitous that post 4,012 and happens to fall on July 4th, 2006? The 229th anniversary of our Country's initial struggle for independence. Imagine, two milestones on one day.
Hmmm... I suppose millstones are good if you're a miller. Gotta grind grain with something, right? Millstone!
Please, please. Before you go on about the importance of this day, and the hubris of highlighting both together, keep in mind Independence Day happened 230 years ago. The people back then did not know how confusing it would be, come year 2006. So, please move those thoughts aside and celebrate as if there is no conflict, as I will. Because, truly, there is none.
Again, grist for the mill. Enjoy my fireworks and remember to twirl a sparkler for the independence stuff.
Oh, and also, remember the farmer, without which, we'd have no grain and no need for millers and millstones, and as such the backyard gardens in the layouts of Better Homes and Gardens would be empty and bare of those moss covered millstones that make such nice fountains.
Congrats on the millstone. BTW, Millstone is great coffee.
