Pulled 445 today weighing in at 196lbs with no assistance. Feel like I could've done more, but it was humid and my grip was failing. Maybe next time I'll sneak some chalk in
Only 55lbs more to my goal of 500. Doesn't sound like much, but still seems so far away hehe

I'll bet you can do it there with everyone urging you on. With all those pros there, your bound to find 20 or so pounds worth of form improvements, too.

Thanks Mahler! I more plate and I am done! I have no desire to lift more than 405. And even that, has probably little real world value.

I use to think that to, but I think people like us (all those at JP) are goal setters and will never accept stopping at a weight for whatever reason

317 lbs DL (conventional, unsupported, unequipped), mixed grip @ 153 lbs BW (2.07 ratio).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQvutFfTsGY
Terrible video quality, wrong ratio conversion (I am thin, not wide).
Goal 405 on December 31, 2007.

I'm a long time lurker but wanted to chime in on this thread. I'm very happy to see a thread like this since deadlifts are my favorite.
Yesterday I was able to get 3 reps mixed grip of 315 in @ a bodyweight of 151. I haven't deadlifted for about 2 weeks but I managed to eek out 3 reps of 335 before I took the 2 week break. At that point I think grip strength is a limiting factor but I don't like the idea of straps.
Do you guys have any tips on improving grip strength?

pull with a double over hand grip. You may have to lower the weight but it will strengthen your grip.

hex dumbbell holds, double overhand work, thick bar work, grippers, plate pinches.... the possibilities are endless.
best carryover are hex holds and plate pinches, methinks.

While warming up to my work weight I use an overhand grip as long as possible. Only when I can't hold the weight overhand do I switch to a mixed grip. This method has worked pretty well so far. I have a feeling though I'm going to have to get chalk as I close in on 500lbs.

Thanks for the suggestion, although I didn't realize I already do this. I usually only use a mixed grip on the heaviest sets.
