Default Haven't worked out in 7 months

Hey all,

I haven't worked out in 7 months, give or take a month or two. It's kind of discouraging. Now when I say workout, I mean with weights. I've gone bike riding, rollerblading, etc. I had really lost my drive to lift for a while, but after a long hiatus, i'm looking to get back into it.

Unfortunately, I'm not really settled right now - I just moved back home with mom and dad, I'm applying for "real" jobs after graduating college, and will (hopefully) be moving near where ever I get hired, and my funds are pretty low.

Accordingly, I do not have access to gym equipment right now. I know there are several great bodyweight workouts out there, but I'm really in the mood to move heavy stationary things around. I haven't even been reading up on excercise during this time, so I feel out of the loop.

I guess this is really two questions:

1. Are there any programs, articles, etc. any of you know about that feature excercise you can do with common stuff? You know, irregular object lifting, strongman excercises, etc...

2. Any new developments, great articles, etc. I may have missed that I should go read? I haven't even stepped into this forum in quite some time.

On a more cordial note, I notice a lot of new names in here, so let me reintroduce myself to the newer folks who don't know me. My names Chris, but most everyone on here calls me shark or sharky. My title says ladies man, but really should say "aspiring" before the title My gf may beg to differ, but i digress.

I'm a skinny bastard with an athletic, swimmer type frame (no muscle on it, unfortunately). I hover at 145-152 lbs, and even on a 4,000 calorie diet, the pounds only slowly add on and then come landsliding off as soon as i get sick or skip a day of massive eating.

In terms of goals, I used to be interested in gaining muscle, but I'm convinced now that if I focus on strength and function and eat right, the body will follow.

Thanks in advance!

You know when you don't workout you have to stop posting?

Go to Craig's forum and check his site for the bodyweight workouts. Good stuff. That can get you started again.

DOOD!!11 U;ve got 2 train yer gunz!!1

Honestly though, just start simple, keep it simple, and rock the simpleness hard, and keep on rockin' it, and you don't stop rockin'.

Read Baggett's stuff...I've been reading this lately and loving it.
http://www.higher-faster-sports.com/bodybuilding.html

Here is some simple and effective stuff.

This is how I have been training lately but it doesn't matter what split you do or any of that and I'm not advocating one or another (in the first of baggett's bbing articles he has some sample splits at the bottom that are cool to give you an idea how to structure things), whatever you prefer, but I like to keep things simple and thought it may help you to think in those terms at first.

Get back under the bar bitch!!

When you get settled, check out Craig's List for deals on exercise equipment. /http://providence.craigslist. org/spo/ (assuming you get a job in RI)

ooh hard rox, i forget about craig's list! Once I have the space for it, I really want a bench, bar, cage and weight set. It's a bit of an initial investment, but once I've got that stuff, I can do pretty much anything. Thanks for the tip.

And Nate, where the HELL have you been?????

You're close enough to hit the NYC CL as well. I got my Concept2 C from CL in DC for $450. WELL worth the drive Every now and then, a set of Powerblocks shows up on there, too.
