Have you seen any specific training programs Chinese lifters are using?
I'd be very curious to see the volume.

This is what Dan told me when he trained with a team at a provinical gym in China:
Quote:
Each workout was centered around either the snatch or the CJ. For snatch workouts, we'd start with snatches, all kinds of variations. Either power or squat, sometimes starting with powers and then getting into the squat version as the weight got heavier. We'd do lots of triples, but also doubles and singles. From the hang or from the floor. Straps or no straps. Lots and lots of sets, I guess including warm-ups we'd do around 10 sets. Then, after the snatch, we'd do assistance exercises for the snatch. For example, snatch pulls or snatch deads. Usually 3-5 reps. Again, lots of sets, around 5-8 or so work sets. Workouts would be around 2 hours.
Same deal for CJ. Lots of power cleans and power jerks, etc. Assistance for CJ would include squatting (front and back as well as overhead squats from the bottom position), lots of push presses, etc.
We'd begin the workout with a few minutes of light stretching. Then we'd always begin with the empty bar. We'd sometimes finish the workout with some kind of body-weight exercise, like chin-ups or partner-supported handstands. Some lifters would do take the empty bar and do some bicep/tricep stuff for injury prevention.
They also do other exercises like bench press, broad jumps, jogging in the morning, all kinds of stuff. I've even seen muscle snatches and split snatches. So much variation, yet the main thing was those workouts that focused on the snatch or CJ and the basic strength (assistance) exercises for them.
They take around 9 workouts per week.
I don't know to what degree they were juiced. I know at least some of them were taking drugs, but I hope/assume that some of the real young kids (12 years old) were not. At any rate, they all have elite genetics and are hand-picked from thousands and thousands of kids. For example, it's common for them to broad jump 3 meters before they start training. Plus, they grew up in the countryside where their bodies are already "hardened" from life on a farm.

9 workouts a week with that sort of volume & load work...yeah they better be genetically gifted!
