Hi everyone, I'm having a delima. I have been doing HGM with Chris, however he can no longer continue on with the program due to physical problems. So that leaves me, the lone ranger. So I started looking through the rest of the program. While phase one has been fun and it has done alot for the way I look, I need strength. Particularly in the upper body (lagging behind my lower bod). Will the HGM give me the strength I need or should I switch it up??
If so what recommendations would you have, keeping in mind I can't run out and buy any books at the moment. I like variety and a quick workout isn't necessary (just leaves me wanting to do more). Swiss ball stuff doesn't appeal to me so the less there is the better . I also don't have a workout partner so no spotter so I need saftey first.
I'm almost thinking I should just design something on my own again. I'm not sure I feel up tho the task right at this moment.
Thanks guys and gals

If you're really just shooting for pure strength...danny ought to be able to hook you up (or GQ). If you're willing to stick with some overall you're not going to go wrong with HGM, just be sure to put in honest efforts.
I found HGM to be good up to, and including, phase 3. After that I switched to Waterbury's Next Frontier and now I am on the Waterbury Method. Suffice to say out of my very short 'sensible' lifting career I have found that Waterbury is often the way to go!

Thanks Gobbla. Main focus is to improve on upper body strength. I always put 100% into my lifts. I can pump out 26 reps with 175lbs on squats, but struggle to get decent weight up on my curls. Deads seem to be stuck at 155lbs and my db is only at 40lbs dbs each hand. I'm finishing phase one of HGM this week. Dropped 2%bf in the first half of phase one, I like the way I look, but I think my upper bod sucks!! Maybe I'm doing something wrong

It's been awhile but I thought there was a strength phase coming.
I'll check it out a bit closer. It just feels like I'm not doing enough and the upper body is really lagging behind what I can push with my lower body.

Post some upper body strength goals so we have a better idea on how to reach what you want.

HGM demotivated me. I liked the routines, but didn't like that my year was planned out in advance. I did up to 5.
I prefer to look at routines a week or so ahead of the end of my current one. It gets me more motivated to look through different routines and pick the one that I think will help me get to my goal.
For strength I did not see much gains from the circuit or superset phases. I saw more gains from waveloading and 5x5 type stuff. Some of the workouts circuit/superset, I feel are more GPP once you reach a certain level.
