Thought it would be interesting if we posted the web site of the gym we work out at. If you have a home gym maybe you have some pics you could share.
I recently joined this gym since I moved. It's a bit more hardcore than my last one and I love it! Much more free weights and compound movement machines.
I work out mostly at a gym connected to a swimming pool complex - it's a couple blocks from my house. The pool is an Olympic sized pool and the weight room is on a mezzanine level above the pool. The pic only shows about half the gym. There is also a deadlift area (5 oly bars), incline DB area (DBs to 120s), a squat area (4 racks + 2 Smiths) and a BB press area (5 benches). It's a pretty decent facility. I also workout at a smaller club downtown near my office, but it's a pretty lousy set-up for lifting. OK for HIIT and some weights, but I prefer to do most of my lifting at the CGP gym.

I workout at an Energie Cardio gym.. It's a franchise so I can go to anyone of them. But the one near where I work was rebuilt brand new a few years ago and is great.
Their Web page is insignificant though. I mean lots about services and general stuff, but no workouts.. NO FORUM LOL
Some things I like in my gym.
*Very high ceiling, excellent ventilation.
*Dress code (machos and "look at me"s would be sad) t-shirts rule in the weights section (more skimpy tops allowed in the group fitness classes)
*seperate stretching/mat-work section for about 10 people at a time, with 4' wall between it and the rest.
*not for me but there is a small daycare on site where parents can leave ther kids for the time they workout.
*I rarely go, and it's rarely used on the ladies side at least.. but there is a sauna in each locker room.
*seems to have enough machines and weights for the number of people who go. (I've seen up to maybe 100 at a time besides group fitness)
Some ideas :
*separate section (1/5 of the gym) for ladies only.. the rest is mixte. I do some of my free DB exercises there.. better concentration. I think though it was designed to commercially compete with the Women's only gyms like "Curves"
Some things I'd like :
*more space to run and jump and skip and whatever. We can in the group fitness room but it is almost always occupied when I go.
I'm guessing it's not usually that empty, Nick!

K-Court, I have a good buddy that lives over in New West and have been to the Canada Games Pool a few times. I can't say I am a huge fan of it. I found the equipment to be pretty old and run down and it was too humid because of the pool.
Jakenshape, I hear you. The equipment ranges in age allright but I find it is in good repair and functional. Not a big deal given my emphasis is on free weights in any event. As for the humidity, you're absolutely right about that. I'm not sure when you were there but they did some renos a couple years ago and it helped a lot. Still pretty warm though. It really bothered me at first but I'm used to it now and actually kind of like it. The main reason I go there is it's close to home, it's a decent gym, the hours are good and it's reasonably priced.

I work out now in my schools gym. It's a pretty small place, but when i get older, rich, and famous i plan on changing that No, seriously. Anyway, its got:
- 3 flat benches
- decline bench
- incline bench
- 2 utility benches
- lat pulldown station
- chins/dip station
- 2 powerracks w/ lifting platforms
- some sit-ups center with adjustable heights
- a glute ham machine that is never used (shame)
- some machine that you load with weights and hit like a lineman
- a supoorted row machine
- some neck strengthening machine
- this dual cable machine that has like 2 arms that can be adjusted angle wise and then used for all kinds of stuff-it's actually pretty cool
- med balls, wrist rollers, other accessories
-and then we have the dreaded leg press. I say dreaded not because its the second most used piece of equipment (guess which one is the first ) but because its right by the door to go outside and it, the chin/dip station, and the incline bench give you like no room to try and get outside when somebody is using one of them.
Anyway, then we got all kinds of dumbbells, up to and over 100 pounds, about 8 bars and a whole bunch of plates, some of which are bumpers. Anyway, i get a good laugh at the football players and the freshmen who come in to lift. They all go straight to the benches and start benching, most with egos in mind. Then they go and load up the leg press machine and begin to hammer those out with horrible form, almost every one coming way too far down and rounding their lower backs horribly. Then, the most annoying part comes-the calf presses on the leg press machine. They do hundreds of them and the ROM is very small, so all you hear is the friggen machine making the most annoying sound.
Anyway, i don't touch that thing . I stick to the platforms, rack, that cable machine thingy, chins/dip station, and occasionally a utility bench for work on the rotator cuff. Whatever is called for in the program we're doing. Most of it is free weights, but we do utilize the cable machine for cable chops.
O yea, then i have my home gym I have:
- a adjustable bench with leg attachment and lat tower
- 300 pound olympic weight set
- 5 foot standard bar and 2 adjustable dumbbell handles with i think something like 125# of standard weight plates
- olympic weight tree
and in about a month i'll be adding:
- agility ladder
- 3 kg med ball
- reaction ball
- stability ball (for shoulder prehab)
- power band
All of that good stuff coupled with my knowledge gained here and other sources recommended by people here, and hard work (and a whole LOT of food ) = look out

I used to work out at the local Y but gave it up about 3 months ago - Too crowded, nasty showers, too much gossip.
Now I enjoy my routines at home in the garage. My equipment consists of:
Squat rack with adjustable bench, 300# weight set, assorted DBs, EZ curl bar (for B.O. rows), pullup/dip station and a swiss ball. All I need for a full body complete workout.
Oh, and I never have to wait on a station.

I work out in my own workout room, it's not big but it's good enough... for now
I have
- a squat rack with pullup bar and dip handles.
- an adjustable bench (flat and decline.
- some kind of multibench with cables (leg extension, high/low cable pulley, and a pec deck) I didn't really wanted it but the cable pulleys are pretty handy.
- 350lbs. of regular plates and 3 bars and 2 dumbell handles --> Will all be replaced since my bars have a max load of 350lbs.
-Swissball
Been thinking of setting a gym up at home but I love the pool and hours at the Y. Plus my basement is this large cold damp space not condusive to too much activity.
My girlfriend and I workout at the Y as well. The membership allows us to use any of the 5 available here in Lansing, but we generally go to one in particular(the biggest one). That's because aside from the weights it has an inside track and pool...very handy during the Michigan winters.
I have a decent setup at the house, about 600lbs of standard weights, a bench, two 6-7 foot bars, 8 dumbell bars, a pacemaster treadmill and a stationary bike, all in a room with a cheap tv and surround sound system. Both me and my wife like use it, although she uses it more than I do. I have a Balleys total fitness 2 miles from the office which is where I primarely work out at lunch time.
My own studio.
JP, gym envy made me cry a few weeks ago. Some thug invested 6 mil in a gym here. The sad thing is that the floor made me sad more than anything else (he did have Life Fitness like us + same free weights, just a lot of it). The floor, oh my.
I know I'm risking a beating here but.......ballys...... please guys, don't hurt me..
LOL. I don't mind it and great gyms aren't that common in the land of beer..

I might eventually get her to post sometime. She just started working out with me a couple months ago, getting more serious of late. We're both doing C.B.'s Barely Legal workout with a couple minor modifications.
After our workout today, we were going to attempt raquetball, but found out it's BYOR (bring your own raquet), so didn't quite pan out. I'd like to say we did something else in it's place for cardio, but instead we just sat int he whirlpool for a few then went home.
I workout in my garage. I have an Olympic weight set, a lot of dumbbells, a bench, and squat rack. It’s hot in the summer, but no one laughs at me when I do curls in the squat rack.

I workout in the basement. I have Power Blocks, 300 lb Oly weight set and a Power Cage. I've built my own pull-up station, dip station, rings and trap bar.
I work out in my basement. I am currently renovating it and will be building an area dedicated specifically for working out...there will plenty of room with a few mirrors, a nice floor(don't know what yet), a spot for my extra TV, and some speakers for the obligatory loud rock music.
I have a power rack with dip and chinup/pullup bars, a fully adjustable bench, 8 sets of dumbells in various weights from 30 to 85 pounds, a couple barbells, a 300 pound Olympic set, a good quality treadmill, and a rarely used exercise bike.

I workout in my basement. I have a bench, barbell and dumbbells that I'm adding 5 lbs at a time. I wish I could have a TV set there but it would last 1 day. Well, I love working out listening to Ramones.
