Thumbs up Two-a-days

So this will be my first post I guess. (bare with me while I get aquintained to rules, expectations, etc)

Two-a-day workouts. Has anyone ever tried these? I am a big fan. I was just curious if anyone had ever tried this type of workout and had success. I did last summer and was very happy with the gains and considering trying it again this summer.

There is nothing worng with 2 a day workouts. In some of Chad Waterbury's workouts he has you doing them. Check out Bodybuilding's Next Frontier: http://www.t-nation.com/findArticle....6-017-training

The key is to make sure you are getting adequate nutrition and spreading the workouts by 8-10 hours at least. Give this program a look, many people who did it got great results.

I don't do 2 a day lifting, but I have and am doing 2 a day lifting and cardio (running, cycling or swimming) or 2 a day cardio.

Don't seem to have any issues, everything is progressing nicely for me.

I don't see anything wrong with it, I would probably give it a shot myself if I had more time.

Double sessions are fine if you know what you're doing.

I'm currently doing CW's Next Frontier program (with double workouts), and I'm seeing good results. However, I don't personally know enough about my body to blindly go into the weight room twice a day and push weights around. I'm doing the CW program because it's a balanced, periodized routine that is designed to be taxing without crossing over into overtraining.

I do 2 a day's about 3 times a week, but as a part of triathlon training. My advice is to make sure your nutrition is SOUND and that you are taking extra special care of your body. I take my multi religiously, as well as extra Vitamin C to keep my immune system chugging. The vitamin C along with a lot of green and white tea really help me. I also do a LOT of stretching and hot tub time to make sure my body is getting enough rest. 1 hour of cycling followed by 40 minutes running on Monday, followed by about 60 minutes cycling and 40 minutes in the pool Tuesday makes for a tough Tuesday night.

Just listen to your body!

I did Waterbury's routine and the two a days were very beneficial, I'm enjoying a week off now though, it's pretty taxing.

The twoaday I did last summer was East European Bodybuilding

I liked it alot. I was avg about a 1.5 a week in mass gain (until I met this girl), my bodyfat went down, and my strength went up about 20 (upper body) - 40 (lower body) lbs on each lift. This was in 8 weeks to.

I did find myself injury prone though.

My diet was something along the line of:
Breakfast: 6 - 8 eggs (maybe more depending on caloric need) only 2 yokes. Oatmeal.

Snack 1: 1 pieces of natty PB bread/ fruit (last summer I did one but I am getting a bit bigger)

Lunch: Two cans of tuna, tea, fruit, 1 piece of natty pb.

Snack 2: Nuts or Homemade protein bar

Dinner: Whats for dinner or 2 chicken breast, a green veggie, tea, and potato

Prebed: Muscle milk

On workout days I had MM (1/2 serving) before each workout and I would have a fruit smoothie after one workout.

Definately read over the article :Body Buildings New Frontier that larrabee posted.

In addition, you could read through:
-Perfect 10(found in that article) which focus on a high frequency approach to only 2 body parts while training others normally.
or
-Build your own High Frequency Training Program:
http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do...ydra?id=960811

Im currently doing two-a days and have based my routine of all the articles above.

It started with sessions on Day 1 , 2, 4, 6 and then moves to 2 a day work outs for day 1 , 3, 5. Im currently on the two a days but have made the second work out geared more towards recovery and conditioning with body weight excercise circuits, higher rep and set parameters and HIIT afterwards.

Im noticing good gains, finally cleaned up my diet and eating 3000-3200kcal on non lifting days and 3600-4000 on lifting days and am still steady in weight while seeing some decreases in body fat. Lose muscle, gain fat? ... i hope so. for specifics, check out my log, the link is in my signiture line.

Concerning my diet, and comparing it to the one you stated above, i feel like you were consuming a substantially fewer calories. Through speaking with others, ive learned that with HFT/ 2 aday type training, people are gaining musle even on low calorie diets, which is the maravel of it all. I, on the other hand, am very hesitant to lose more than absolutely neccessary of the muscle i gained through my last (not-clean) bulk. So far, slow and steady, but working well.

Next week I hope to get to 2-a-day that require heavier lifting in all sessions. At the same time though, im contemplating high frequency by body part training. Anyone with experiance in 2 a days and HFT, feel free to give me a PM, esp. if you wanna jump into a new phase with me.

Oh, and welcome to the boards.

I do two a days 3 times a week. It lets me put a little more intensity into my Ab work than if I performed all in ones.

I did the " next frontier" program and I'll never do anything 2 a day again.

Too difficult to manage the time commitment.

I would do lifting in AM, cardio in PM if I were to cut intensely, but lifting twice a day wasn't for me.
