Considering the wide range of people that attended the JP Fitness Forum we just started asking what motivates people to post and attend an event like the JP Fitness Summit.
We had a very wide variety of age, ethnic, male and female, knowledge base and sports enthusiasts that attended.

Nothing Commercial about it.

All the hot guys would be attracting me...I'll be there next year
Seriously though, I'm an enthusiast that would also like to get into the fitness industry.
Well I chose medical practitioner as that seemed to fit best well that and enthusiast. I think that works. Paramedic= medical practitioner right?? OK well in Canada it does so thats what I went with.
I answered fitness enthusiast since that is what originally drew me to the site. I'm going to school to become a physical therapists now (finishing up my sophomore year of undergrad). Still don't know what I want to specialize in, sports medicine sounds appealing, but working with people with neurological disorders sounds interesting too.

I chose not in the fitness industry but would like to be. I'm studying for the NSCA-CPT test in December. I've worked in the health insurance industry (both medical and pharmaceutical) for over 10 years, and I see all kinds of problems that could be fixed with proper nutrition and exercise. I kinda feel like staying in my current profession only makes it easier for people to become chronically ill, overweight, and out of shape. I want to get into the industry to try and help the people who really want to make a change but don't know how.
Chris are you a martial arts instructor? or student?
Instructor.
And I'd venture to say that for nearly all of my teen and adult students, I am their main source of fitness instruction, information and motivation.
I will be moving into offering additional training programming for interested students, and later the general public (or select groups). I am currently studying for the CSCS exam.
I am in the majority group here as a Fitness Enthusiast.
Although the amount of time I spend reading this forum seems to be transforming me from an enthusiast into a fanatic.

Just an entusiast here. I once considering getting some sort of cert but I love working in IT and don't think I could make the same money in fitness without working a lot of hours (though I work a ton of hours now). Plus I'm 1/2 way to getting a retirement and don't want to start over.
but I did teach Phys. Ed in a highschool for 8 years, and fencing for all in all over 25 years, and gave some canoe workshops, and had my level 3 (national) cerification as a coach (technical and theoretical parts, didn't complete the practical section)
The forum has got me thinking about getting my certification for teaching fitness again.. group or individual.. I don't know.. but mostly for the 55 years old + crowd.. I think it would be good for them to have an example of someone who is their age.. and not a 20-30 year old trainer. At least work enough so that I pay my gym membership when I retire and have less money.
