I just wanted to thank you all for being the best audience I could have asked for. You were attentive throughout a very long day of information and asked some outstanding questions.
It was also great to put faces with names and get to know the real people behind the screen names.
It was also great to renew old friendships and make many new ones.
I also want to thank each of you who donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I haven't had time to come up with a final total, but I think at last count we were over $500 in donations. Your donations will make a difference, and I am amazed at your generosity.
As the new folks found out, this was a rather unique experience. It counldn't have been done without the tireless efforts of JP and Erika and the staff at JP Fitness. If there is a more passionate host than JP, I have yet to meet anyone who even comes close. He doesn't do this for money, but rather, for you who support this online community. JP deserves all the credit for a great weekend.
Lou as always, you are the essence of cool. When I grow up I want to be just like you...except with more hair.
Again, I can't thank you enough for making this a great weekend for me. I'd do it again in a heart beat, and I can't wait to join you in the audience next year.
Bill
P.S. I started a thread for Summit Questions under my PR Performance forum below.
Seriously Bill you were awsome. I can't tell you how much I learned in the last two days from you. I can't wait till the DVD comes out so I can go over it again.
Great stuff on creating a workout program and the presentation on the tests was amazing. Learned so much, just got to soak it in. You really gave me a diffrent perspective on many fitness topics and MADE IT EASY to learn, not an easy task at all!
What a nice surprise to find this little thread waiting on me after dropping you off at the airport. Thanks a million, Bill. You are the rarest of people... A real "healer" of our time (remove all new age connotations from that). Too many docs/PTs let their titles [read egos] stand between them and the success of their patients. They are so educated that you aren't qualified to tell them what is wrong with you. In a sense, it is as if they have forgotten the true meaning of that oath that they took, in most cases completely unintentionally. They may mean well, but they really don't listen, or even if they do, they don't want to appear to not know exactly what is going on. You clearly sincerely care about people who come to you in pain, you listen to them, you have a confidence that puts them at ease, and you have real and immediate methods for helping them, and you do it out of your genuine desire to help people without any monetary motivation. You are the highest level of human being, and I really can't find words that express how much I appreciate that there is actually someone like you out there.
Thanks for making this the absolute best summit ever. Just when I didn't think we could top ourselves...
For those in here wanting more technical info on what we covered, go to this thread.
That was truly amazing, Bill and JP. I learned more than I ever thought was possible in a weekend, and with my recent surgery, this was EXACTLY what I needed to know and do before I return to weight training. Thanks for sharing from your awesome wealth of knowledge, Bill, and thanks to JP and Erika for hosting such a great event.

What an awesome weekend. Just to echo JP, Kevin, and Bill's comments about the summit.... What an event! I came away with so much knowledge and motivation that I am going crazy. Well, that and trying to flush all the :PEEJs out of my bloodstream.
Bill Hartman is the man. He was able to teach me where my weakness are and how to fix them. I learned more in fifteen minutes of his time than I did in hours of PT appointments. I know the road will be long, but armed with a plan I can begin in earnest. Seriously, Bill is an excellent instructor and all around nice guy. I hope the DVD can do justice to just how informative his sessions were. Also, thanks to Zig and Don for rounding out the sessions. Neat stuff.
Hats off to JP, Erika, Cappy, and the rest of the staff that helped put the weekend together. JP's enthusiasm was evident in everything we did. They definitely know how to put on an event. Little Rock is fun.
I'd also like to say that it was great to meet the rest of the attendees as well. It really was cool to put faces and voices with the screen names. And to the Clubhouse guys...... you rock! And finally JP, sorry about the noise complaints.....who knew it was that late??? :p
I'm already looking forward to next year.

Each year, I find myself saying, it cannot get better than this and each succeeding year, the magic is there and it gets better than the year before.
Bill, you are not only a an intelligent, thought provoking speaker, but you are a true artist in your field, a field that has many practicioners but few true artists. Add to that, your winning personality and we could not have asked for more.
JP, Erika, my dear friends, you continue to amaze and to make me thankful for the gift of your friendship. The work and attention that you put into this event is simply unparalleled. But it is so much more than that, which makes these annual pilgrimages to Little Rock, so memorable. It is you yourselves and I cannot explain that any further, and indeed, to those who were there, it needs no further explanation.
Zig, Don,Gordon, your presentations only served to add variety and zest to an already great weekend and was just the icing on the cake.
Cappy, the old saying goes that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Quite simply, you have won my heart. The food and snacks were excellent. And, also my thanks for truly going out of your way on Sunday to get me to the airport.
ODB, my thanks for the planning of the extracurricular activities. The hike up Mount Pinnacle was breathtaking in more ways than one. As I said when I got to the top, it is truly one of those places where you reach out and touch the face of God.
Ryan (mitsuman), my "adopted" son. Thanks for the ride to the mountain and your continued friendship.
Ryan (CAchief), my roomie, thanks for your companionship and good humor and putting up with the old guy. You know you are now an official
mahler "adoptee" son.
To the rest of the Clubhouse, each of you met and exceeded my expectations in so many ways and it was as though we had known each other for years. It took on the character of a reunion without us ever having met.
To the other attendees and all of you, I am so fortunate to now have met you as you stepped out of the cyberspace of the forum and into my life. You will not, and no you cannot, take the step back again from the friendly handshakes and warm embraces that we all shared.
I already look forward to next year, my friends.
John

How the hell could I write this and forget to mention Gordon? Reverse jetlag? Lack of sleep?
My apologies Gordon, as your training class was educational, enlightening, and has added phrases to my vocabulary. Now how can I work the phrase 'demeating the finger' into everyday conversation?
Again, sorry for the oversight.

Holy crap. Good Call!!! "DE-MEATING" I hope to never use that word in my life. Amazing program, great guy.
Thanks a lot to JP and Erika, Bill, Gordon, Zig, ODB/ODBSGIRL, and the JP Fitness Staff. (If I forgot anyone, I'm sorry. I'm exhausted) I had a great time this weekend, and can't wait until next year.
And, I want my DVD.

More jobs? How about less people?
I just got home from the airport, man was today a long ass day. I hate airports. With a total of just over 9 hours of layovers and delays for the weekend I have just about enough of them for quite a while. But it was worth every minute.
There isn't much else to say that hasn't been said, but it was an absolute blast. I learned a ton and got to meet a ton of people. Seeing all the guys who have been at past retreats was awesome too.
A huge thanks to JP, Bill, Lou (my internet dad), and everyone else at JP Fitness for putting together a mind blowing weekend.
My only regret was with that many guys there this year I really didn't get a chance to talk with everyone as much as I would have liked. I really hope everyone comes back next year so I get another chance.
Danny

Bill, thanks for the informative seminar. Very enlightening and it'll take a few days to digest everything that you covered!! Thanks for working on my shoulder and helping identify some posture issues.
JP, it was great to see you and Erika (and kids) again this year. Thanks for your hospitality. It was a helluva good time and once again you've out done yourselves.
To friends old and new, it was a pleasure spending a few days with you. I had a great weekend and you reinforced the main reason i spend my free time at this site.....the people.
I really enjoyed seeing the JP internet peeps this weekend. I was not able to make it to the dinner on Friday night or the hike/bike on Sunday. My schedule only allowed me to spend Saturday with the summit group. I did meet a couple of guys during the event (ODB, emartin10, larabee, and Lost Dog) Others were easy to figure out due to their avatar pics or quote on the back of the summit shirts.
I was lucky enough to win one of the training package from Alwyn C. So between the packet and the information that I learned from Bill Hartman, I have a wealth of knowledge that is worth more than the the price of the summit.
I was not dressed to participate in the testing on Saturday, but I did work with CAchief/Mahler/Lost Dog/Chris Correria's group as an observer. I thought that the presentations were going to be dry and boring. I did not even expect all the hands on participation. Next year, I will be more prepared.
For next year, I plan on taking advantage of the whole weekend's activites and talking to more of the attendees.
It was a pleasure spending some time with fellow forum members.
And Bill Hartman, thanks again for all the knowledge. You made the information so easy to understand.
Keep on keepin' on,
Scott "Dogg Town" G.
PS....Thanks to all for kicking me and my friends off our table at the Flying Fish. By the looks of the pictures above, you guys drank more beer than us.

Being a Summit newbie, I had no idea the weekend represented a real opportunity for getting helpful information about my *own* body and its quirks. I thought we would be hearing general-application, lofty-principle stuff — so, man, I missed a personal opportunity.
Knowing what I now know, I would have hopped on the forum thread that asked folks to sign up for a segment of Bill's Friday night time, and asked him for specific advice about my chronic injury.
Wouldn't it be fantastic to have eyes and mind like that???
On the other hand, I sure did have fun! It was nifty to meet the avatars. And I think I did gather up some important lofty-principle info, too — but I need a couple more naps before my fog clears enough to sort through them.
After the Sunday morning Pinnacle fun I rejoined my training buddies for the rest of their 20-mile trail run, and I was so not trained up for all that distance — I'm pretty much energy-systemed out.
I am especially looking forward to the chance to sit down and start reading Mr. Cosgrove's training-program notebook.

I'm still on the road (shhhh, don't tell anybody that this McDonald's has an open wireless network), but wanted to say thanks to everyone who set the summit up. What a great event. Even better than I'd imagined.
Friday, Bill did his magic on my forearms, wrists, and hands (Bill, it seems to be helping as long as remember to keep doing it!). And, many of you heard to story of my first time ever touching my toes (JP touches his, too!)!
Friday night was a great night out, with a lot of good beer and guilt inducing food!
I wish I'd driven a little faster so I could have seen Zig's presentation!
Saturday was simply overwhelming, learning about weaknesses and how to diagnose and begin to correct them. It was nice of Bill not to tell everyone that I was the low scorer in the group (13). I can only go up from here, right. Bill was very kind and I feel that he's given me a lot to work with. Despite the "few" weaknesses that I have, Bill pointed out that once these are corrected, I should start making better progress than I have before. I'm happy to make that investment, Bill. Thanks. In fact, I'm going to do a thorough job or recording my current state so I have something to measure against.
Don did a great presentation on his software and services. It seems that his products will be a great benefit to both established and newbie trainers. Also, they makes some great looking sights, that he can really be proud of. If I was ever able to switch careers to one in fitness, I'd be giving Don a call.
Saturday night was just great! More beer and (for me), fried catfish, okra, and green tomatoes. Like Old Home Week from my childhood visits to the south! I saw most people eatin' healthy, of course (no, really, they were!)! After dinner, it was off to a suite at the hotel, with the choice of drinks: PEEJ: (I hope I spelled it right) , beer, whatever. Music with JP and Kuri playing some amazing guitar.
Sunday was an amazing hike up that beautiful peak. Amazing view! Great time.
So many have already expressed thought similar to mine, as far as the hosts, presenters and honored guess. Simply amazing and gracious, all around!
Yet, as I drive back to California, I'm also thinking about those of you who attended with me. It's a little hard to put things into words, but I'll at least say that these folks are dedicated: Not just to fitness, but to friendship, kindness, a gathering of knowledge, helping one another, etc. There was so much sharing going on, so many good times, and good natured joking, that it was hard stop moving between one group and another. As a result, I feel that I simply must go back again next year, because I've only scratched the surface of what these great people have to offer.
I made some new friends, and it was great to actually shake hands with my forum friends, in person. It was truly a great event and I thank you all for everything.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, JP, Erika and Bill! The kids and I felt so welcomed Friday afternoon. I really appreciated you all making sure that I got time with Bill and the kids got to stretch their legs for a while. Weekends are so precious to us since it really is the only time we get to spend with Michael, and so it was hard letting him go. But he was so recharged (and talked almost all nine hours back to Houston), that it was definetly worth it for all of us.
Thanks for your generous hospitality and your wealth of knowledge!
Jamie
p.s. Michael's grandmother broke her leg (above her new knee) yesterday, so the kids and I will probably be in your neck of the woods again very soon
I can't get the little purple sad face to go away at the top of my reply...the only sad part was the p.s. your new site is too high tech for me, JP! ha ha!
Thanks for letting your hubby hang out with us. I'm glad you got to come up and see the place too. Your children are absolutely precious!!! You guys are welcome to call us any time you are in town. We'd love to see you. I'll PM you our private contact info.
To echo everyone else, this was quite the learning experience for me, and awesome to see those of you I met last year, and meet lots of new faces again.
I was soo excited with what I learned, after 20 hours or so flying to the north pole, I had my sweetie strip down to his underwear (cause that's the only way to truly examine correct form ) and run him through all of the tests. He passed most with flying colors, but will have to resort to the other tips I learned from Bill's Golf video that I watched on the plane here. And I think I'm still telling summit stories 48 hours later. Oh well, you guys certainly left a lasting a memorable impression on me.
Argh! I must have had brain overload, because I left out a bunch of folks with that earlier post. I'll just play it safe and say thanks to ALL the people who made the Summit happen. You know who you are, and I'm sure there's some folks behind the scenes who did necessary but not very high-profile work. Thank you!
And I'll have to add one more: Kaiser, thanks for putting up with a total noob in your spin class. It might have been painful, but I enjoyed it. Just don't.... please, I'm begging you... don't make me listen to Abba again!
