Question

Gidday all,

Just purchased these 2 books. Just having a look at the workouts in Book of Muscle. Has anyone done the beginner course? Im thinking of doing it. I can never decide on a workout plan and Ive got this one on paper which makes it easier to follow. Also is it a Fitness, Muscle Building or what type of plan workout?

Cheers

The beginner program in BOM is the best place to start if you are new to lifting. If you have at least a years experience then try the intermediate.
The program is not as much an exclusive "muscle builder" as it is an all encompassing model. Ian King seeks to shore up any muslce imbalances then proceed to make you bigger and stronger.

I've been doing the BOM beginner program for the past few months. It's tougher than it looks on paper: there's times I'm convinced Ian King is a sadist! But it's a good program, especially if you need to be pushed a bit beyond your comfort zone.

I'd agree with Ctrain: the beginner stage is intended to increase your general strength, and address muscle imbalances. I'd add that it also gets your body used to the moves you'll need for lifting heavier weights as the program progresses and you add more advanced exercises with compound moves.

It's a great place to start.
