Question

Hi, I am new to this forum and this is my first post here:
Is there anyone else here besides me doing BOM for fat loss, or should I use a different program? I am in week 3 stage 1 of the beginner workout.

Thanks!

At your level, BOM would probably be very helpful for fat loss. If you have not been training with weights before then just about any regimented program would probably yield results for you. Increasing your muscle mass is going to be the fasted way to change your body compisition quickly. Perhaps Lou would know more about that though (since he and Ian wrote the thing).

beLean,

I noticed that Ian and Lou suggested that bulking and cutting cycles be used for the individual stages of BoM as I read through the book.

If I remember correctly, Stage 1 can be used for fat loss, then 2 and 3 can be used for maintaining/bulking, then stage 4 for any.

Personally, I used 1 for cutting, 2 and 3 for maintaining, and 4 for a slight bulk, and have seen good results.

Good luck!

Thanks JP and Fayman. Your replies give me more confidence and motivation sticking to BoM.

One more question, I did only one circuit in week 1 and 2. This thursday was the first time I tried to do two circuits since the program calls for 2 or 3 circuits for week 3. But I felt that I had no strength left after completing 1 circuit. For each circuit I tried use as much weight as I could with 15-20 reps. Now do I need to lower the weight to save some energy for the second circuit, or, just do the 3rd week with only one circuit and move on to week 4?
Thanks a lot!

beLean,

I am finishing the Int. BOM workout next week. I followed the same diet plan that fayman mentioned with some very good results. It’s tough to offer too much advice without more information.

Age?
Years of Training?
Height?
Weight?
Diet?
Overall Goals?

The more information you provide the better the advice, specific to helping you reach your goals.

BTW - Where in Chicago are you from? As you can see I'm a Cubs fan and live north of the city.

Hey, I gotta chime in on this one. I finished the 27 week Intermediate Program last week and my first week of Advanced this week. Like fayman, I cut in the first phase, then maintained with a slight bulk in the final phase. I am in my best shape ever. Go for it.

Lefty, I am in Libertyville, not a Cubs fan, or a baseball fan in general. The teams I follow most are Bears and Fire.

BoM is the first strength program I follow. I have been lifting weight and running for about two years, during whihc period I went from 230 to 185. My goal is to get down to 175 and to get rid of the love handlers Also I hope BoM will make me stronger for the indoor soccer games comes November.

JP fitness is the first fitness forum I registered, although I have been lurking at MH site for some time. It is good to see the guys following BoM resurface at this forum.

Thanks.

I live in Winthrop Harbor so we are pretty close. While I am not a soccer fan, I am a die hard Bears fan. Pads this Wednesday!!

Since you have been lifting for a few years I would decrease the weight and do 2 circuits. This will help you burn more fat. Strength gains will come later in the program.

Congrats on your progress so far, stick with it.
