Re: How many trainers to we have in here?
I'm certified. I've been travelling for the past 6 months, and plan to start working as a trainer when I get back to the States.

Re: How many trainers to we have in here?
ACSM-HFI since 2000, CSCS since August of last year, and USAW for 2 years...I'm in school for my DPT now, which will afford me a somewhat different career path/option when I'm finished, of course.

Re: How many trainers to we have in here?
buoennate, how do you like grad school? where do you go? I start in the fall for my DPT. how was the HFI exam? I took a class based on ACSM materials that was, besides some credits for correlates, supposed to prep you for that exam so I might just take it...

That's awesome! Congrats, ich! Where are you headed to school? I'm in the clinical doctorate program at the City University of NY: http://web.gc.cuny.edu/ClinicalDoctoral/pt/index.htm
I'm loving it, but it is definitely hard work! I have 10 exams and 3 papers this month before we get our spring break! But I'm learning so much, it's (gulp) worth it. The HFI exam was pretty rough, but certainly doable...if you've never done so, take a look at my 'CSCS Blog' that I kept over at MH: http://forums.menshealth.com/eve/ubb...21/m/489107041
We had a few discussions of the differences between the two tests, what they were like, etc, etc (of course, anyone here preparing for any of these tests might find some useful info in there...that's what I wrote it for! )

[/ QUOTE ]Not at all, ich! This was a career change for me, so I had to return to school at a later age to take the classes that you're taking as part of your major now...if anything, you're a step ahead of me!

Re: How many trainers to we have in here?
Just a curious question. For those of you that are currently working as a personal trainer, what kind of wages did you start at. I am thinking about obtaining my CPT cert and would like to know what kind of career I can expect. Thanks!!!

Re: How many trainers to we have in here?
Come on, nobody knows how much they made when they started in the field. You dont have to say what you make now, just what you started at. I just want a rough idea. I am talking "personal trainer" only. Nothing higher than that for now.

[/ QUOTE ]If I recall, it was around $20-something per session. Maybe $21-22?
