Well, I nailed one of my short-term goals already! I benched the 100's for three reps. The last rep wasn't the prettiest thing, but it was all me, no spot.
Thanks, man. I've hurt my back a couple times already this year... neither was during lifting. I just have back issues, and I'm gonna have to learn how to work around it.
Just read your log to realize that those were 100 pound dumbells. For some reason, I thought you loaded up 100 pound plates for the bench. I was thinking it was an interesting milestone, but the dumbells make a much better one. Again great job, and I hope the back settles down in your favor.
Nice job dude The real question is: did you wear clown pants like ronnie coleman does? Anyone still have the link to that video?
I got to about 80 and couldnt get started on them. I've read about the "kick up with the knees" technique, but cant seem to get it right. Also now I'm using storebought adjustable dumbells where I have to screw up a nut thingy to hold the weights on so the bar sticks out and all that my thighs are a mass of bruises by the time I'm done .

I know you've probably read about it a million times around here and other sites, but I struggled with controlling/getting the weights into place, etc. until I strengthened my rotator cuffs and lats. Hartman or one of the other pros could surely explain better than I could. But whereas before I hurt my shoulders/elbows trying to get 70-80's into place, I now roll right back with the 100's, and just tuck and roll them back up, too. No need to drop them at the end.
I got a massage therapist to work on my shoulders and then did Cressey's "Rotator Cuff Conundrum". Then a bunch of chinups and rows.
very nice job! I honestly don't think I've ever tried the 100s... hmmm I'll have to see if I can handle them. I can do 80s for sets of 6 so I have to be able to at least budge them!! anyway, not to steal from your feat, great job man, that's a lotta wight you're throwing around!
I've just started working on that stuff, although I think I might have a problem to fix first (small pain in right shoulder, can work around it but thinking I probably should fix it instead ). Thanks for the advice . Nice work btw!
Now, I really got to get on it. I am at 60's now, and thought it was a lot. I see those 100's laying around at JP's place. But I thought they were just doorstops.
