Default Question: Position of Bench in Power Cage

Since I got rid of my regular bench I have been having this little problem of positioning my bench in the power cage for bench press. When the barbell is still in the hook, sometimes it feels like the bench is too far up and when I start doing the press I have the impression that I will hit the barbell on the hook all the time (a couple of times I did and completely threw me off) and others I feel like the bench is too low and I have to arch my arms too much behind my head to reach it. Are there any standarts people use to position their bench? Do I make sense?

Thanks.

I don't know what others do, but I position my bench so that my eyes are looking directly up at the bar. You should not have to stretch to reach the bar and lift it off the pins.

Eye level, thanks Mahler. I'm thinking of marking the floor since it's such a pain to lay down on the bench just to get up and make adjustments.

Nyguy I have done the same thing. It totally messes up your lift. I am going to try the eye level thing Mr Motivator suggested. Thanks for the tip Mahler.
