What are you using for protein powder? I'm using egg white powder by Optimum Nutrition. I can't use the whey stuff It does some funky shit to my stomach and sends gas into my thought that I can't get rid of. I think te proper diagnosis is acid reflux. This only occurs with dairy products. I'm not really sure it's a lactose problem.
And about the diet thing are you drinking the liquid meals with aminos. Also are you using any creatine or glutamine, and what the hell is Phe?

I use ON Whey's Chocolate or Chocolate Mint right now. Supposedly they are 99.8% lactose free or something like that.

I don't add any glutamine or bcaas. ON Whey has the right numbers (according to the book) on the side of the tub, so I figure its okay. I use 1.5 scoops of ON Whey and 2 scoops of dex in about 30 oz of water.

I don't use any creatine at all. My wife refuses to allow it.

From what I've read, there's no problem with it. It has a bit of a bad rap.

i definitely have a gas issue. but for protein, i just eat more fish -- not dairy (when i know i have to be somewhere, for more than an hour). i eat egg beaters, and brown rice for breakfast usually. i don't eat meat (aside from seafood), i also drink whey protein shakes when i'm too lazy to cook up some fish or eggs. i'm an english major in college and i feel that fish/egg beaters (more protein) really does make a difference in my thought process. gatorade and hawaiian punch makes helps the gas issue too, in the morning (i heard it's the citric acid??).
