Was I the only one confused by how to construct the routine for the first phase? It wasn't exactly the easiest layout for constructing a routine.
But then again maybe I am just a dumb muscle-head jerk?

Yeah, it's pretty open ended. It just gives guidelines to make sure you have several exercises for each weak point (after the self-assessment). So lots of back work if you have internal rotation, etc. It's not as cut-and-dry as the other phases, but it does have some explanation.

I was left with a few questions, but ended up doing pretty much what Rock said. It's a bit of a shame that there still isn't a forum on the official site where such questions could be directed straight to Mike M, JB & all of the other guys doing the program so that they can share their experiences.

I did the assessments last week and did my first workout in S2B yesterday. I do have some small questions, and I really wish a discussion forum was posted on the site as it says in the book. Hopefully that will happen soon.

It was terribly laid out. The rest of the book is great, but that section is VERY unclear! I get the concept of picking excercises in a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio of back to chest and hams to quads, but they don't give any good recommendations on the number of sets and reps for excercises, or a good order or layout to put them in. I used the first sample routine and just changed the excercises a bit to fit my needs, but kept the overall layout.

I did the same thing... just picked one of the two sample workouts which most closely resembled my situation and then changed a few of the exercises to make up for the gaps. I did have to reread that section several times in order to figure out what exercises were appropriate, though.

Good, I thought that I was just dumb. I reread it several times and thought that I was missing something. I understand the 2:1 ratio, but was unclear on numbers of sets, reps, and how to deal with the areas where I didn't have problems.
I must be used to reading those Lou Schuler books. They are great because they break it down and idiot proof everyhing, so you can't possible mess it up.

I just don't think his comments were construtive in the slightest. Some people obviously just feel the need to post on a thread that they have no real interest in.
That 'Get Lifted' guy does seem to be a bit obsessive-compulsive.. It's more like he's posting his memoirs than a log!

It took me forever to figure the workout for phase I of S2B. In the end my stats ended up looking just like one of the examples.
IMO that section could use some clarification.
Setting up the logs for the other sections is significantly easier.

I read that log on T-Nation, and although I think Get Lifted is a bit nutty for taking all that time to document everything, I do agree that people should not bash him for it.
As for setting up phase 1, if it is confusing for us to figure out how to set up a training log, imagine how confusing it must be to someone who is new to lifting and picked up the book to get started!

I thought of that when I was going through the process. I am assuming that although both authors have a great deal of experience in the fitness and health world, they don't have a lot in constructing a book. I am assuming that's someone like Lou's strength.

that part of the book screwed wit my mind...i read it ...then again..then one more time and decided to steal one of their routines for it and switch in lower back exercises....i got through it though...its good to start wit the hardest stuff...(at least for your brain)..
starting phase 3 on monday

As far as I can tell, the book is basically just a tool to get us confused so we go to the website and pay to get online training from them directly. For shame.
