All,
I've just purchased a Polar heart rate monitor (Chest strap and watch) and have a few questions regarding the heart rate that I reach during workouts. During my latest HIIT, which was 10x100 yard sprints seperated by 10x100 yeard walks, my heartrate would reach 170-180 during the sprint, and drop to 120-130 by the time I walked back to the other end of the football field. Once it was over I walked 1/2 mile back to my house, by which time my heartrate was at 90-100BPM. Within 10-15 minutes it dropped to 60-70BPM.
The following day I didn't feel like working out so I did a nice, relaxed bike ride for 45minutes or so. During this bike ride I did not feel winded by any means, was not excerting myself at all, but my heart rate was in the 130-140BPM range. I would have assumed that with no visible excertion I would stay way below that. Am I mistaken?
Anyway, are these figures fairly normal? What is "Normal"?
My stats:
30 years old
5'8" 200LBS
I work out 3 x per week with weights and 3 x per week cardio or some type.
