What's up everyone!? First off, welcome to all the new MH dudes (and dudettes). Some of you might remember me from over there, most of you might not. I'm currently in Australia, so I haven't posted in a while. It's night here when its day back home and vice versa, and I've been pretty busy.
On to my question. I've kinda slacked on lifting since I've gotten down here. A combination of less time and less motivation. I'm looking for a new routine that will get my ass back in shape and also help me regain my motivation. Here's what I have been doing (on and off) since i've been down here:
Workout A:
A1- Back Squat
A2- Bent-over DB row
B1- Stiff-leg Deadlift
B2- Close-grip Bench
I alternated between workout A and B, allowing 1 or 2 days of rest (usually more, given my lack of motivation) between each workout, and used a 5x5 rep scheme.
I'd like to continue using a low-rep training routine, as I feel its both more beneficial and more fun that a more moderate rep scheme (ex 3x8). Can anyone recommend anything for me? Thanks in advance!

i've recently moved and completely changed my lifestyle. i used to lift only three times a week and do the low rep training like you. now since i have so much more time on my hands i've been training nearly everyday for a few hours (to kill time cause i'm bored stupid) and sleeping 12 to 16 hours a day.
the improvements are awesome.
not sure if you have time to sleep that much but if you do i would recommend training longer and harder then you ever have before and you will see HUGE improvements.
traing LONGER? not really sure i agree with that. Especially since I definately don't have either the time or desire to waste that much of my life sleeping! (but hey, if it works for you!)...
regardless, any routine suggestions?

Douche!!! It's been a long time. Hope you're enjoying Australia.
I do a one body part per day routine, 8-9 sets per part in the 4-6 rep range. I keep a day in between the upper body workouts (so it's usually Tues-Thurs-Sat) for upper with legs on Sunday. To keep it interesting I change the exercises every 4 weeks or so.
If you want to keep your routine (which doesn't look bad, by the way) just switch things up. Sub lunges for squats, wide grip pullups for chins, dips for close grips, etc. Change is good.

Well, if you can sleep 12-16 hours, then training longer is probably ok. After all, look at the pros (and don't just yell 'steroids' at me! ):
They do twice-a-days like it's nothing... but they sleep half their day away.
I think most of the 'rules' we see around here (as far as length of workout and number of days per week) were really made with the understanding that the target audience works/goes to school/is lucky if they can get 7-8 hours sleep per night.
It also depends on how long a person has been training, which obviously might be very different for someone else.
Maybe, but given he says one of the reasons hes struggled with motivation is less time, then I doubt its appropriate in this case .
Something like the RR&D or SSD routines which only do a couple of lifts per day and are over in about 30 mins (supposedly) might suit depending on your goals.

No, you're totally right. In sharky's case, it wouldn't work. I was just defending JoshDunn's choice.
Bj, Rock... I agree with both of you. If i had the time to sleep that much (or desire for that matter) i might consider it.
Anywho, a few of you mentioned some programs. Can any of you give me either a direct link to a program, or type it out here? I'd really appreciate. Thanks again all...
and OldGuy!!! I've missed you, douchebag!! Things are alright down here. Really looking forward to returning home. Australia has made me appreciate the US much more than i did before.
Later all!

Check the fitness FAQ forum for workout links post. Theres a few all written by the same guy nearish the top, including the 2 I mentioned earlier. They all tend to use compound lifts, low reps, high weights and only a couple of exercises per day. Sound right down your alley.
