What do you think is more important for bodybuilding, the diet or the actual training style? I have asked others this question and they have said diet is worth about 80%, and training is worth only about 20%. I have to disagree with this ration though because without a good, solid training program your gains will be limited even with a good diet. Anyhow, post your opinions.

I think if you have a good program you can probably eat pretty badly and still gain good strength and muscle, but also a lot of fat.

I think diet is key in keeping from gaining a lot of fat along with all that muscle.

Now, if you eat TOTAL crap (not enough food, not enough protein, and/or a lot of empty calories) you're going to have a problem putting on muscle at all.

Not only does it depend on you program & diet, but your metabolism as well. I know that the older you get the slower your metabolism gets. That's why I mean from personal experiance I have seen someone not watch what they eat at all and just train hard but they were BIG and their BF% was at about 7%. I don't really know where I was going with this but that's my take...Yes, I currently watch what I eat but don't diet strictly.

I know personally for me it's all about the diet. I'm trying to cut down a couple BF%. I'm pretty good at pushing it hard in the gym, but when I've had problems with diet in the past I could definitely tell.

I would also say that intensity and dedication have a very large role too. If you hit the gym every week according to plan and lift at your most intense, then your results are going to be much better than the guy who skips a few workouts every month and lifts to feel a 'pump' but never pushes himself.
