Question

Ok first some stats...19, 5'5" 156 lbs, 9-10% bf...I have been lifting for three years and currently consider myself intermediate and very serious bodybuilder. For those experienced lifters and bodybuilders out there...would a program like max-OT be a good method to try out for an intermediate lifter finishing a bulking stage...I am trying to get another 8-10 lbs of muscle in the next 3-4 months. Anyway, I just feel hesitant to start this program since it doesn't seem very new to me and it seems like it might turn out to be a HUGE advertisement. Anyone get results they wouldn't get from their own program? Thanks in advanced...

Ignore all the ads for the AST products. That's not to say their stuff is no good, just that you can buy the same things anywhere and probably get a better price. As far as the actual program is cincerned it's a good one. I've been doing it for a year and a half and continue to make gains. I think you could reach your goal doing it.

when u say max ot style, do you mean you follow the program to a T for your bulking stages or do you just keep the theories on warm up and heavy sets, and splits?

sounds good...concerning the actual work sets...am I not supposed to increase the weight between work sets? and also for the second and third exercise of any muscle that is already warmed up, I am not supposed to change the weight around at all? just keep in the 4-6 rep range for the whatever amount of sets?

If you can do 6 reps and think you can get an extra rep in you need to increase the weight. Once you get the hang of it you'll know what your weights will be and you won't be changing much during the workout. From one workout to the next you may be increasing but not much during a workout.

Plus, I think Max-OT is a good routine whether you are bulking or cutting. I've used it for both with good results.

and as far as the program is set up...do i really have to follow it to a T? for example the first week they dont have you doing the warm up sets...im sure it would be ok for me to read ahead and just start doing the theories right from the beginning right?

I would do the warmups. I think they want you to do them but don't explain their method until a later week.

thats what i figured...today i just finished my first max-OT workout...today was leg day and overall I think this program is very promising...the only thing is I am having a lot of trouble figuring out how to warm up properly...is their a specific method I can use on all body part exercise warm ups?
e.g.
bb back squats
warm up 1= 7 reps at 135
warm up 2= 7 reps at 135
warm up 3= 4 reps at 185
acclimation set 1= 2 reps at 225
acclimation set 2= 1 rep at 255
work set 1= 4 reps at 245
work set 2= 5 reps at 245
work set 3= 5 reps at 245

i can squat much more then that...ive gone up to 275 for a 4 reps or so. my hamstrings were a little sore but I feel like I might have warmed up improperly.

oh by the way the reason my acclimation sets were higher then my work set weight is because I missed my projected work set weight of 285...

It's probably a little different warmup than you're used to. Remember the warmup sets should not take you any where near failure and use the full rest period (2-3 minutes) between warmup sets.
