Anyone have a description? I can find "leg curl," but not "Russian Leg Curl."

It's an alternative to a "Glute Ham Raise," which requires a special machine, apparently.

I think it is a partner assisted GHR where your partner holds down your ankles. These are done on the floor.

So it's basically a natural ham raise then? You can do them on a lat pulldown station too.

can you explain a little how you'd do them on the pulldown station? I'm curious.

you'd put your feet behind the knee pad, and rest your shins on the butt pad.

Exactly and you can actually use the pulldown bar for assistance if you need it. It's a bit awkward to get used to but it does work. Supposedly not as good a real GHR machine because you don't have a solid plate to ram your feet into which changes the muscles emphasized to some degree.

ah, i see. All the lat pulldown machine i've ever encountered have butt pads that are only less than 12 inches in width. So, i was kinda wondering how that would fit both knees.

I found a couple of links and articles, here:

GHR!!!!!!!

I tried them in the lat pulldown setup, but failed! Things were busy, I looked like an idiot, cable too short, I moved on...

One of the 5 or 6 back extension thingies at my gym is very adjustable. I was able to make it level and adjust things to approximate a GHR setup. If only there was more padding! Ouch! Anyhow, they were really hard. I might try them on a ball next time. They ball looks like it would be easier on the quads.

They're not easy to do. They will definitely abuse the hell out of your hamstrings.
