Default Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

2 OZ parm cheese (the real stuff)
1/4 cup butter
3 T mayo
2 T lemon juice (optional)
1/4 t basil
1/4 t pepper
1/8 t onion powder
1/8 t celery salt

1 to 1-1/2 lbs Tilapia

Mix all topping ingredients in bowl.

Lightly salt fish on both sides and put on foil lined baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray. Broil 2-3 minutes, flip and broil another 2-3 minutes. Spread topping evenly on top of the filets and broil another 2-3 minutes until bubbly and brown.

YUM!

missjane or tossedup.
What other fish would you compare the taste of Tilapia to? I see it in the stores and although I have never tried it I assumed by its appearance it is similar to Sole or Flatfish?

Tilapia is a very mild white fish. You've probably never heard of walleye or perch in your neck of the woods, but it's sort of flaky like that. It's really good! Try it!

Thanks missjane, we don't have walleye here but we do have perch here for sure and when I googled an image I thought they resembled a perch.
When living in Ontario I believe I ate walleye, only up there it is called pickerel?
There isn't too much in the line of fish that I don't like so Tiapia is a must try.

Tweaked this recipe a bit and got even better results:

Substituted real minced onion for the onion powder -- about 1/8 cup
Sprinkled fish with Old Bay seasoning instead of salt before broiling

This is one of my new TNT faves....

Might be giving this or something similar a try, the gf is NOT a fan of parmesan. I have had little luck with tilapia in the past. My brain may be out of wack though and it might have been basa i had no luck with.

I have tried some breaded highliner filets I liked. Be super keep on being able to make my own concoction. Maybe almond flour?

ogedei,
Almond flour works great. I have used it for fish and chicken. Browns quickly but does not get as crispy as flour or parm. I made a chicken parm with the Almond flour and it was fantastic.
