Swimming 4 Everyone
My name is Matthew Olaya and I am a former Collegiate Swimmer for NCAA Division I and a Bachelors in Kinesiology.
With both of these life experiences I have never been able to see so clearly how swimming should be and how to perform to your maximum capacity.
Basics to swimming:
1-Swimming is hard to learn because we do not swim as much as we do walking on land. Any one can swim, it takes time and patience.
2-Body position is the key to swimming!
That means body which only include the legs not the arms.
one might say how can you move without arms?
Answer: As long as your body position is correct and legs are kick
correctly then you will cause propulsion leading your body to travel through the water.
Just like a boat: it is stream lined with minimal drag and the power comes from the back.
3-Breathing can make or break a stroke (Swimming)
Swimming should be performed exactly the same regardless of you breathing or not.
4-Arms come at the very end, Arms are important but should not hinder the stroke. Arms provide us with direction, stability and propulsion.
Just a little list of what to look for in swimming and to maximize your experience in the water.
