Default 2 Laps

Today I was able to swim 2 x 25 yard laps with out fins. This may not seem like a big deal, but it has taken a large amount of effort. I started learning to swim in the end of October using the Total Immersion book and DVD. For quite a while I was only able to do the drills with full fins, but last week I was able to start using the short (speed) fins. I'm going to keep using the short fins for a couple more weeks, while I work on my technique more. Hopefully I'll be able to do 400 meters by this Spring so I can do a couple of Triathlons Sprints in my area.

Good for you! Swimming is hard. Well, breathing is hard. If a person thinks he's fit, thinks he's strong, thinks he can master it all, I'd like to see him jump in the pool and give me 500. That'll humble him.

Keep going, friend. You're noticing improvement and I know how exciting that is!!

I was able to do 450 yards today without fins. Of course, I did it in 25 yard increments with rests in between, but I think I should be able to fix that fairly soon.

Should be able to do 400 meters in open water in a few months.

Today I was able to do 400 yards without resting! It may seem small to some, but man I worked for this. I did it in just under 12 minutes, and I felt good afterwords.

In a couple of weeks I'm going to to test run of a triathlon sprint and see how I'm able to bike and run after swimming. I honestly don't think it's going to be much of a problem. After I'm able to breath for a minute after swimming I don't feel tired at all, so hopefully biking and running shouldn't be too difficult.
