Default Getting back in the pool...

I was back to swimming 1-1/2 miles per day back in October when I had to stop for some health issues. Anyway, it's all good and I got the green light so I'm finally back in the pool. I did a quick 900 yard swim today to get back into the flow. Man it doesn't take long to get out of shape!!!

I'm hoping to be back to 1 mile per day within the next week or so. I was doing a mile in 27 minutes when I had to stop. That was a pretty good pace for me. Tonight's swim took about 20 minutes...

I'm back up to a mile per day for the past week. Today's mile was 31 minutes so I'm almost back to my previous pace. I need to increase my distance some, today wasn't all that strenuous...relatively speaking.

I used to swim for a year-round swim team from the time I was 10-16 years old. I think I get through the water pretty efficiently but I'm thinking that efficiency makes it easier for me to go a mile. For swimmers who fight the water it would seem they would get a harder workout going the same distance.

yeah i tried swimming and not fighting the water today. haha. a lot easier. i think the key for me was to do my swim at 5 am so i am too tired to struggle with it and i can relax more easily. but darn it i hate waking up at 430. todays swim was about 1900 yards over ther course of an hour not couting warm up and warm down. it was a good mix of drills and laps. i am wiped out now. thank god my run is only 40 minutes tonight.

Glad to hear you found some positive results from changing your stroke to avoid fighting the water. Man 4:30am would be rough! And then you run too?!?!? Holy smokes!

I started training with a swim team one night per week...they're teensagers and the kick my butt! Actually I still lead my lane but the workout is much more intense than when I swim alone.
