Default GoSwim videos

I have the Breaststroke and Backstroke DVDs from GoSwim, but looking at the pic posted by swiminto, I need to get their freestyle DVD. It covers the key points simply...I don't have time to read long descriptions of how to do anything, much less swimming.

As a pure swimmer, this may be problematic, but in a triathlon, this is ideal. The idea is to save your legs for the bike and run.

1. Use your core-body as your engine.
2. Use your hands to "hold onto your place in the water."
3. Swim faster with your body, not with your arms and legs.
I'm not familiar with #1, but I envision #2 as related to kayaking. You don't pull your paddle through water, you pull your kayak to the paddle entry point. If you truly pulled your arms "through" the water, you wouldn't go anywhere. It is your body that you are pulling through the water. #3 I think has to do with rotation driving you through the water, but than again isn't that the same as #1?

I'm currently working with the TI DVD and trying to figure out how to use propulsion from my core to propel me, but haven't quite figured it out.

From what I can tell the idea is to use your body roll to spear your lead hand out. Rolling your body like a wave should be able to propel you some what like a fish uses it's body for propulsion. I'll be working on this tomorrow in the pool and if I figure something out I'll post again.
