I'd be pushing for this if I was swimming right now. Probably should be.

Ask and you shall receive. If we can get some people, we could do one...

I haven't been in the pool in over a week but that's in part because I was in Fresno earlier this week. What would happen in a swimming challenge???

It would be similar to the Running and Cycling Challenges. You would set a monthly goal of yards or meters that you are going to attempt to complete. Then we're split into 2 teams, and you earn points based on the percentage of your goal that you complete.

Maybe one of our alustrious moderators will help put together a thread for goals?
I have to be honest here though..I've never set any swimming goals..so far. But I'm always up for adding some. Maybe I'll actually get better at it once I set some goals.
Here..I'll throw out one first. My goal..100 laps in the next 30 days.

Believe it or not, the pools I have been in so far are all marked with meters. As you say though...to have any real relavence we tend to think..now what is that in yards or feet. Thus my reference to swimming a mile..

Okay, since I am recoverying from a shoulder problem, my goal is 20,000 meters in April. For you Americans that is 21,872.27 yards...
So far within the past 11 days I have 13,500 meters.

Probably pretty close. It's 5,280 feet for sure.
1 meter = 3.28 feet so...
1 mile = 5280/3.28 = 1609.75 meters
OR
1 mile = 5,280/3 = 1760 yards

Okay..here's why I was confused..
Last summer I swam the mile at boy scout camp. They have an olympic pool at camp. We had to do 16 laps (down and back is a lap) to complete the entire mile.
Now..what I figured out here is..the pool at camp must be a 50 meter pool..that is you would be doing 100 meters per lap. That being the case...16 la | |
