You do indeed rock....good for you Jimbo... but you know what this means....it is only halfway through May and you have smashed through your goal, therefore next month you will have to at least DOUBLE your goal distance.
Good for you..I plan to make it through tonight....

Oh come on. Let me bask in the glory for a minute or two.
Yeah, I thought of that. Next month's goal will have to be somewhat higher than ..whatever I end up with this month.
We will need to start a new thread in June. "June Swimming - Team 1" :p
Cool...can I be on your team?

So since you and fin are teaming up, does that mean that Q and I are going to have to kick your butts as team 2? Or since I am the newbie, I have to go it alone? LOL

See...now it's not the butt kicking you mentioned that bothered me..it's the fact that you say 1500 is "light swimming" Turkey! (or maybe I should have called you a duck)
Oh i know Jimbo, that is what this is about, Right? Friendly competition, but also about enouragement to set our goals and try to accomplish them. If there is razzin' and ribbing along the way, that makes it all the more fun.
as a side note, yesterday's workout had one of the longest main sets I have done in a long long time..it was: 2 x (6x200 meters on 3:00) so altogether the main set was 2400 meters . I had to change the way I swam each 200, just to stop the boredom from setting in..LOL.
I am in Arizona....so the water is just great, the air temp was 90 plus degrees, at 7:30 this morning, or something like that.
So hold on to your googles I went 4350 meters today.
So May's total 41,600
Total Percent of goal 139%
Lucky stiff. Must be nice enjoying the sun shine while swimming!
I feel like I've been rode hard and put up wet. I was already sore from doing bench yesterday and I finished today's mile in 25 minutes..for me a best.
Give it to me straight swiminto..how bad does that suck for speed? (on average) Is that decent?..stupid question. I guess it all depends on frame of reference huh?
How long does it take you to finish a mile? (bracing myself here)
Jimbo, 25 minutes is about a 1:30 pace for 100 yards, not a shabby pace at all. I can't really comment on how fast that is, as I know really nothing of where you started, your age, or your physical fitness levels. But 1:30 per 100 is not too shabby at all.
I normally do not swim in yards so i had to do a litle time converting to put my pace for the mile in yard time. In training I would be around the 1:20 pace/100 yards.
On to the workouts...
May 22 2800 meters Long course....
May 24 3000 meters

Thanks! That gives me some perspective. I really had no idea how I was doing speed wise. I guess not bad.
I've really only been swimming laps for 4 months or so. I'm 46, 5'10" & 174# pretty fit. Compared to those in the office I'm a friggin God. Compared to those in here..well..I'm probably average.
I had to do a short short swim yesterday. Had a lat that spasmed on me on my 11th lap and stpoped in mid lap and walked back to the edge of the pool. It was intensely painful. But it went away after I stopped. I think my body was saying...ummm..stop. So I did. At 46, I listen.
Hey Jimbo, how is the Lat doing? Hope it was nothing serious?
It's fine. Thanks for asking. I was just tired I guess. I took a full day off and swam another 1645.92m friday. I don;t have my little spreadsheet here at home..so I don't know where that puts me total wise. At this point I know I'm digging myself a hole for next month though.:p
Swam 1645.92m(mile) I guess that does it for May. My May goal was 15000m I swam a total of 28666.16m - 191% of Goal for May. Now I have to set a goal for June. Oh crap.
Swiminto where are you man? You haven't posted in a day or 2.
