Masks actually are pretty sweet, although odd looking. I tried one on at a tri and loved it, but couldn't see myself being that guy.

I tried my new goggles for the first time day before yesterday and they worked well, in terms of not fogging. I just didn't mess with the adjustments BEFORE I got in the pool... and I should have!

They look a lot like my old ones but the old ones fog up pretty quickly now. I've tried the same stuff I put on my SCUBA mask but I don't recall it working very well. Does the anti-fog quality just wear out over time? My racquetball goggles work great after just washing with soap and water.

I have found mine fogging now after about a month of 2x week swimming, nothing that is forcing me to stop and defog, but defintetly some.

Well, my new ones will never fog up for me. I FREAKIN LEFT 'EM AT THE POOL THE FIRST TIME I WORE 'EM! CRAP!!!I hate it when that happens! I must be senile or something. I NEVER lost anything in the years that I've been working out on campus but, in less than three weeks, I've lost an average of one thing per week. I'm not sure about all of it but I know the goggles were my fault... I just left 'em behind or they fell outta my bag and I didn't catch it. Routine is essential for us old folks and I'm just now getting mine down!

Sorry to hear about the new goggles, Q. That SUCKS!!!

The anti-fog feature on goggles definitely diminishes over time. I buy a bottle of anti-fog spray and use it before every swim - even on new goggles. It seems to extend the anti-fog life for sure. Also, do not rinse out your goggles in a chlorinated pool - that will definitely reduce their 'lifespan'.

To add insult to injury, I washed my old ones out with soap and water like I do my racquetball ones and headed off to the pool. I even called ahead to find out when they were closing...8:00. I came out of the locker room at 5:00 and they said, "sorry, we're closing." Turns out when I called they only told me about the REST of the facility, not the pool. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. So, I didn't get to try just cleaning them as an alternative but I did email the City about their customer service.

I actually used the Aquasphere Seal goggles (pictured in an above post) in Ironman Western Australia. I've always had trouble with leaky goggles (just a funny shaped head I guess), but managed the entire 3.8km swim in the ROUGHEST water I've ever swum in, without even having to adjust them even once!

The Seal's are definitely smaller than scuba goggles, specifically made for open water swimming competitions like triathlon. They are more streamlined than masks for those who are concerned with this (being a back of the pack swimmer, I think I've got bigger issues than the amount of drag mt goggles are providing me!).

Also, no fog for the whole swim, great vision, and supercomfortable. I'm willing to look a little unusual for all this (hey, amongst a group that shave their legs and wear bright coloured/skimpy/tight racewear, I don't think I stood out from the crowd too much! Besides, Aquasphere's range is pretty popular in the Ironman).

Speedo Vanquishers are the way to go...My 9 year old and I both wear them. They are the only ones that don't give me a headache and the look good too (most importantly) Lots of colors!
