I'm hoping for the Illini. But they have trouble with big men, and NC has the best big man in the game today. And they live by the three, so if their incredible trio of guards goes cold, look out. That being said, if their game is on, I think NC won't be able to beat them. They manhandled Louisville in the second half.
Interestingly, Roy Williams, the coach of NC is responsible for Bruce Weber, the coach of Illinois (and the Coach of the Year from like 7 different outlets) being at Illinois. Williams left Kansas, setting off the dominoes where Illinois' former coach, Bill Self, left for Kansas and that opened it up for Weber. If Illinois wins it, I'd say they got the best of this daisy chain.

Besides that, what about the Bulls' Ben Gordon? 3rd staright month Rookie of the Month. He's on fire!
At least this college championship ended up the way it should, unlike some BCS using sports. Can't complain about the #1 and often #2 team in the country playing for the title.

If Illinois wants a chance in this 2nd half, Augustine has to stay out of foul trouble and they have to establish some kind of a post presence. all they've been doin is launchin up 3s (more than half of their 1st half shots were 3s) and the trifectors ain't fallin for them. they've become one dimensional. i think they needed to attack Felton at the end of the half and try to get him that 3rd foul. i have to say roy was brilliant with the 2-3 zone-protected Felton and against the 3.

1-3-1 zone. If Head makes the threes, its a different story. 5-15 from deep ouch. Only making 12-38 as a team hurts too.
A Carolina fan with no obvious connections living in Jersey is a bit typical. You like them because they're good don't you? Or is it because MJ went there? It's like rooting for the Yankees and living in KC, what's the point, are you afraid to root for a loser?
If these teams played 10 games, they would split 5-5 because Illinois isn't always going to be cold and May isn't always going to be hot.
And where the hell did Rashad go in the second half. Typical head case, shows up in the first half, team gets lead, disappears and doesn't do jack even though Illinois comes back. If he goes pro I should go pro.

With UNC's win, I clinched 2nd place in my office pool. I was way off the radar after the 1st weekend, but picked 3 Final 4 teams and everybody else was picking Illinois. I made up for a crappy 2nd round. I guess everybody's picks bombed in the 2nd round, too.
yea i noticed it was a 1-3-1 but the way illinois spread their offense deceived me at first. with the PG on top and the guys on the wings, it forced the carolina players to cheat a little due to illinois' ability to shoot the 3. my mistake there. however, IF head makes the 3s. IF IF IF-well he didn't and boy am i grateful
Couple reason why i like UNC:
1) i grew up watchin them and rooted against my dad every duke-unc game-hey, didn't know y then, but i've been a heels fan ever since
2) as i grew up and began to understand the game, i fell in love with dean smith's style of coaching
3) yes, MJ goin there does have something to do with it, but he was there wayyyyyyy before i was a fan and even knew about him-i fell in love with tar heel blue before i even knew who MJ was
3) i have family down in NC who are big UNC fans and send me stuff all the time
4) i've been through the 8-20 season when all my duke fan friends wouldn't let up on me-hene i dont like them just cause they're good-i was extremely impressed with this year's senior class to come back from the disaster and win it all
5) i like roy williams' running offense. i like the fact that he demands his players be in shape to run. i also like the respect that his players give him-may lost so much weight and totally changed his body because williams told him he needed to
Hell, i hate the yankees and like half an hour away from NYC. i get it all the time for being a red sox and braves fan. and, since met fan comes with the yankee hater title, i root for the mets-so nope i'm not afraid to root for a loser [img]tongue.gif[/img]
i agree that they'd be pretty even if they played 10. illinois' 3 pt game was nowhere to be found in the first half. the way that may was playin in the tournament, he proved to be unstoppable when it mattered. but, just his presense created a disturbence-he drew double teams and then took advantage down the strectch with augustine on the bench and illinois other big men in foul trouble, not to mention just a tad bit skinnier [img]tongue.gif[/img] then again, the main word in your statement is IF. we'll never know, now will we?
as for rashad, good question. he does get selfish sometimes and tries to do too much, and then realizes it and tries to make up for it or something by doing nothing at all-like thats goin to compensate.

yup-jawad william, jackie manual, and melvin scott all graduate and felton, may, and marvin williams could all go. mccants is gone. so we lost at least 4 guys. hopefully may goes along with his word and comes back nad felton and williams decide to join him.
