I was just browsing before bed, cause I can't goto sleep early for some reason. Anyway, I just saw that Michael Vick (Pro Bowl QB) has just signed the largest contract in NFL history making him as atlantafalcons.com says "A Falcon for Life".

Lucky '13: Atlanta give Vick biggest deal ever

I think this is a smart move on the part of the Falcons. I mean you've found your guy who can essentially make ANY play on the offensive side of the ball in the blink of an eye, even stuff we may have thought was impossible, so why not lock him up for his career. He may not be the #1 or 2 QB right now, but when he gets some good weapons (WRs besides Crumpler (whos a TE) and [Over]Price[ed] he'll be able to stand in the pocket a bit more. Plus he can make anything happen with his feet. Remember, this is the first guy in 35+ games that led his team into Green Bay and beat Favre in tempratures under 34° (in the Playoffs none the less). With TO gone for the season, and the Falcons being so underrated I can see them goign to the big one this year. Anyway, if you guys have any thoughts on this I'd like to hear.

PS. I'm not a Falcons fan.

I could def. see the Falcons in the big one, but I don't think they can beat either of the top two teams in the AFC, just MHO, the colts have a chance as well. With the offense they have and the defense stepping up at last, its going to be an interesting year in the playoffs...But hopefully, the Steelers take it all!!!

I don't believe he'll take them to the superbowl this year but he puts butts in the seats and that's what he's paid to do. Besides with NFL contracts you just look a the advance since they are not guaranteed contracts.

He's got the most gauranteed money in FNL history if he gets injured on or OFF the field he still gets 37 million.

I worry about depending on a running quarterback for the long haul. He's had a couple of injury's already, how long untill he gets another biggie? What happens when he gets a little older and loses a step?

At the very least you worry about complasancy.

All that said he's could very easily be "The Man". He could make it possible to sign players that wouldn't ordinarily want to play for the club. Single players build teams.

Yeah, i say give him a couple more years and he'll stop running a bit more and put some more trust into his arm, but for right now he's "THE MAN" that gives that edge to the NFL. He's very marketable (clean image, exciting to watch, and handles himself very well), he's an amazing athlete, and he can make just about any play on the field. But anyway, back to my original point. Look at McNabb a few years ago. Couldn't keep the guy in the pocket, but as he grew older he learned his position a bit more and he also began to trust his arm. Granted he can still take off and run but now he doesn't do it as much, same with a McNair or a Culpepper. Anyway, I just think he like pretty much every young player needs a little time to grow into his position and mature. I mean he's only 24 years old...

I dunno about calling him "the man" quite yet. In terms of excitement factor sure. In terms of being the best quarterback in the leauge, naw.

I didn't say the he's the best QB in the league now. What I was trying to get at is that he is a great asset to the Falcons and NFL. He's the type of player that people watch to see what he'll do next, kind of like a Barry Sanders. I mean I remember back when Barry would be on TV everyone would watch, and now I can see the same thing happening with Vick. He's very exciting to watch (arguably the most exciting player in the league right now) and he's got a clean image, something a lot of today's athlete's lack. He is an excellent role model and spokesman for the NFL and Falcons.
