Not at home Dos. I think they were 5-1 at home going into this game (much like NU), with the all-time NCAA DIv 1 passing leader at HI's helm. Frankly, Timmy Chang ate them up. If they win against MI ST next week, they are going to a bowl, so they can't be that bad.
BUT (here comes the sour grapes), NU was trailing by 8 after scoring 8 on their previous possession, and had the ball with 71 seconds left on HI's 20 yard line. The refs said HI intercepted on the next play, when the replays (also shown on the Jumbotron) showed the ball hit the ground and skipped up. I say this as sour grapes, because NU either sent a game into OT or won it outright as the clock was ticking down at least 4 times this year. They were doing it here, and I have no doubt they would have scored, and had a chance at going for 2 and sending it into yet another OT. But it never happened because only the Big 10 has instant replay review, which clearly would have overturned the call in the field.
It's painful because they needed that win to go to a bowl. They are 6-6, I think with more wins over Top 20 ranked teams than any Div 1 school this season (they definitely played more top 20 teams than any other school), but for some reason, because of the schedule, they needed to go 7-5 to be bowl eligible (I still can't get a solid explanation as to why). Last year they were 6-6 and went to a bowl.
So I'm pretty bummed. I've been a season tix holder for 7 years, am an alumni, and this is by far the only team I put my heart into. The way they kept pulling wins out (they were called the Cardiac Cats), it looked to be destiny. But hats off to Chang - he sinhglehandedly dismantled our pretty adept D.
