I was wondering if anyone else saw Big Ben on Sunday against the Pats. Man, as a life-long Steelers fan (born in Pittsburgh), I can't tell you how happy I am to finally see a real QB!!! Bradshaw lead the Steelers to a Super Bowl win when I was 3 years old, but that doesn't count because I don't remember it. Through all the Bubby Brister, Neil O'Donnell and Kordell Stewart crap, we had some pretty good teams through the years. Always just short!!!
Now, I have faith that over the next few years, they might be headed back to the SB!!!
I know all about Ty Law and Corey Dillon sitting out this last game, but the Steelers still roughed up Brady pretty bad (causing 4 turnovers!) and Duce and the Bus still tore up their defensive line.
RH,
Man I'm jealous you guys have Ben. As a Miami grad I loved the three years we had him. Hell, I have become a pseudo Steelers fan. (Damn I live in Bungal territory!) Sure he'll lose, maybe even often, but he is the real deal. He really reminds me of some of the greats. Great arm, mobile, and smart. Keep him happy and you'll see a lot of post seasons!
Hell yeah! A great thing that I've seen already is his ablility to avoid easy sacks. He's a big muther, and lost of LB's have gotten a piece of him and ended up on the ground watching him scramble away. That's huge!
It's funny, because I had never really heard of him when he was at Miami. To be honest, when I did hear his name mentioned, I ruled him out as a future NFL-caliber guy because Miami rarely plays Top 25 teams. Glad I was wrong!!!
And I'm afraid you guys in Cincy are going to have to wait a few more years before you see another post-season.
Not a fan but Big Ben sure is fun to watch. Saw him in person last year against my Northwestern Wildcats, and saw him two days ago. Wow, great game...great talent.
Did he go before Rex Grossman in the draft? If not, the Bears are saying 'DOH!!". He's got the same sense of pressure, composure during it, and where to move as Grossman does. Impressive.
PS: I read the other day that the Bears are about 3 or 4 players away from being a serious SuperBowl contender. Amazing, but I think it is true. They have a hard playing team that is the youngest in years and experience in the NFL.

The problem is that all 3 or 4 of them have to be first ballot, no-brainer, hall of famers
On another note, I share a fantasy football team with a fraternity buddy of mine who lives in Chicago (born and raised there as well). Basically, we would have won our match-up this week had Thomas Jones run for 60 yards or scored 1 TD (basically, he didn't have to do much). Guy gets hurt in the first series. Similar story for us last week when McNair got knocked out in the first series. And 2 weeks ago we went from a win to a tie when Mewelde Moore lost 2 yards on one of the last plays from scrimmage
Big Ben rules!! For a big guy, he sure is slippery in the pocket. He's going to be a good one for a long time for Pittsburgh. Duce is having a bang up season too. I haven't heard much grumbling from Bettis on his diminished carries either which is good for them. He is the perfect short yardage and goal line back IMO. Three yards and a cloud of dust all day long.

Yeah, the Bus doesn't get many carries, but he gets the glory of scoring all the TD's!!!
lol....my soccer coach is a lifelong Steelers fan...
all the times they barely missed doing good things had a bad affect on him...hes a very loud, unhappy guy. He also went bald a long long time ago...his sons a freshman in my class...hes already going bald..(he just turned 14)

Well let's hope he doesn't have too long to wait now!!!
I too suffered through the Neal O'Donnell, Kordell Stewart teams that always came one or two games away, only to see our QB freak out when it was most important!
i like big ben rothlesburger or however u spell his name...i think he'll take the team pretty far this year and he's already proved that he can lead the Steelers past the best teams in the league, now its just a matter of winning the "easy" games and not screwing up.

Steelers locked up Homefield advantage, this is their year. I wanted so badly to attend the Ravens @ Pitt. game, almost bought tickets, but time and money just were not on my side this year. I'll be glued to the T.V throughout the playoffs, and Feb. 6th, I'll be watching the Steelers beat someone. To answer your original post RockHard, yes, I saw Big Ben take apart the Pats, and the Eagles, and 12 other teams in a row. The latest being the only team that has put a 1 in the L column for them. Revenge was oh so sweet.
