It makes me absolutely sick for baseball that a team full of assholes like Pedro Martinez, Manny Ramirez and Kevin Millar might slip by the Yankees and get into the World Series. They don't deserve it.
The only thing in recent sports memory that matches this travesty is the Patriots being handed the Super Bowl last year by the referees.
This entire series has been a blemish on baseball history.
No, the calls were all correct. It's the style of the wins: extra-innings, close-calls, lucky bounces... it's just a cheap way to win 3 games in an ALCS.
And another important factor: John Olerud hasn't played in the last few games. He was playing very well. Tony Clark has done nothing. If Olerud had been there, then neither of those last two games would've gone into extra innings. Of course, nobody seems to be mentioning this. It's all about Schilling's ankle.
Overall, just a wimpy 3 game comeback. Which, of course, makes it all the more irritating.

Their current record-setting winning streak would be a testament against that sentiment.

A lot of would've, could've, should'ves....

Perhaps you're starting to understand how Red Sox fans have felt since 1918 (and Cubs fans since 1909---I'll bet that Kaiser's greatest wish is that someday, someone in his lineage will see the Cubs win a World Series)

They may even be the best team this year. However, Carolina out-played them in every aspect of the game last Super Bowl, except when it came to the refs. I wouldn't normally say that about a Super Bowl (even when the Pats won it the first time). But it was true last year.

If there is any justice, it'll be the Yanks in the series, and the Sox at home watching, where they belong.
Geez, what a cry-baby. The Red Sox have outplayed the Skankees the last 3 games. The richest team in baseball can't knock anyone in when they're in scoring position. And now they have to play game 7 with a depleted pitching staff!!
Good luck.

George Checkerwriter goes out and buys the best team money can buy. They have THE best player in baseball. They have the best manager. They have had three chances to eliminate my beloved Sox. In the last game, they are playing at home....against a guy that is bleeding through his socks....errr Sox(!). They can't get the job done?
You tell me who doesn't deserve to win. %$#@ the Yankees...and the Lippizanner stallion they rode in on.
I love how all you Sox fans can bitch and moan for 80 years about some "curse" and it's ok. A Yankee fan is upset about his team once, and you say he's a cry baby.
You're right, I guess I don't know what goes through the minds of perennial losers.

GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!
You and OG might know how I feel (being Sox fans in NY). I'm in the center of Boston, hearing the victory parades of honking car horns and screaming, drunk Sox fans til 4am for three straight days now. I've heard their arrogant blustering ALL YEAR LONG. Everywhere I go (from concerts to crowded subway stations) dozens of people take up the chant "Yankees Suck!" whenever they get a chance.
It adds a whole other (personal) aspect to the rivalry.
As a Cubs fan I am sitting this one out, but what a great series so far. I am not a big fan of either team, however, I have been on the edge of my seat each game. What a performance last night by Shilling!!
I have been cheering on the Sox, I am just really, really tired of the Yankees.

RH--soooooo funny. There is a Yankees fan that is a buddy of mine and I always start of our baseball discussions with "Bite me"....
For the record, my two theories:
1) Babe Ruth carried the BOSox into Game 7 so the could lose in appropriate fantastic fashion, probably with a walkoff homer in the bottom of the 15th to win by 1...
OR
2) The Red Sox have battled and battled, and the blood from Curt Schilling spilled in Yankees Stadium provides the necessary exorcism for my beloved Sox to finally snap the curse.

I do want the Sox to win, as I would like to see the top of George's head blow off as he signs those big checks, and he has nothing to show for it.
Plus, I want them to win so we don't have to endure your endless gloating tomorrow.
I kinda figured you might be a Mets fan, after I re-read your posts and saw you were from Queens. My best friend is from Queens and he loves the Mets too.
As for the gloating: It won't be endless, don't worry. I'll stop after a week or so.

RH....you have kicked us in the groin for 100 years. Can't a guy get a little excited? Besides, think about it. If the Yankees lose, the 1986 Sox and Bill Buckner are finally off the hook as the worst collapse in Baseball history....

Sure, get excited, I still don't have to like it!
And it's not even about the majority of fans. With the exception of Schilling and Wakefield, I have no respect for anyone on that team.
Hmmm... the more I think about, the more it scares me: The Patriots finally won a Super Bowl, the Red Sox might beat the Yankees, GW Bush is president, antagonizing the entire world, most specifically the Middle-East... I believe they're all indirect interpretations of signs of the End Times.
