I'm a huge Yankees fan, so I'm pretty dang happy about how the Sox series is going.
I must say, though, that the 19-8 victory was probably one of the worst pro baseball games I've ever seen.
Set aside all of the extra-base hits for a moment. The Sox baserunning was atrocious, primarily due to their third base coach. They lost two runs because of him. And that balk. What in hell's name was Moendoza thinking? Talk about your brain-farts (as Al Leiter so delicately put it last night).
Manny Ramirez looked bored with the whole game, and swung the bat like he was ready to give up.
And the Yankees pitchers weren't all that great either. Brown was simply terrible. He couldn't find the plate except to leave it high and meaty. Between Brown and Vazquez, they allowed 16 baserunners in the first 6 innings.
The game saw well over 400 pitches in over 4 hours time. Like I said, I like the end result, but man, I'd prefer a 7-3 ballgame any day.
Yes. Terrible game from the point of view of baseball fundamentals. There were even 2 line drive/runner caught off base double plays.
Sox came in as a bit of a favourite due to pitching. Schiiling's probably out (his ankle injury seems to prevent him from developing much leg drive) and Pedro can't start for in a row. Stick a fork in the Sox---- they're done. Boston fans shouldn't complain , though. The Pats look awfully good.
I've gotta say this is truly a painful series to watch as a Boston fan. We literally haven't even gotten a spark of hope so far, as we've basically sucked every game. Pedro pitched well game two, but we couldn't get a hit of that cyborg pitcher Lieber for the life of us. He's almost as annoying as Rivera. GRRRRR!!!! I still hold a small amount of optimism, as once in a while the Sox go on a tear (see: first 6 games against the yanks this season). It really depends on whether Lowe AND Wakefield can get a decent game in (although with Wakefield coming in for relief all the time I doubt he'll get a chance to start). Schilling is cooked. And where the !@#@ is our @##^*ing offense???? jeeeeeeesus....
look at the averages for our guys - they suck. We had one good inning in game 1, and game three was just completely bizarre. We need to have every guy making hits, which they have done before and they need to do again. Obviously the real problem is our pitching, which is basically non existent at this point....
Anyway, that !$#@ing pansy a rod just hit a 2 run homer....ARGH!!!!!!

Perhaps I've spoken too soon
Looks as though Schilling will get the start tomorrow.

If the Astros get to the show the storylines are abundant.
Boston V. Astros
1. Bagwell faces childhood team and team that traded him away.
2. Clemens against the team that made him a star.
3. First ever appearance V. the curse
NY V. Astros
1. Clemens back agianst NY (Reaction from Pettite)
2. The battle for Beltran. Who is Steinbrenner going to pay.
I don't want to put the cart before the horse. Go Astros. I just want to get there.

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

This is why I'm glad thatI don't bet on sports........

Yep.
Sure.
OK.
Gotta have faith. </font>
I dearly hope the NL winner spanks the Sox back into reality.

Which is why I said back into reality. They're straying a little too far these days. </font>
Dilemma, dilemma.
I'm a Mass. native who lived with perpetual Sox disappointment. I then moved to St. Louis and enjoyed many a Cardinals game in Busch stadium. (Of course, now I'm a Twins fan here in MN)

...you have no idea... </font>
I have a very good idea!
I was up until 3 am listening to the crowds, car horns, pot-banging (yes, people were actually walking down the street banging pots and pans!) and miscellaneous noise. I went outside around 12:00 and started to watch. Interesting.
I watched TV for a while, seeing the crowds refusing to disperse; the bottle-throwing, the pepper-spray, the drunken college kids brawling, the arrests, etc.
