NU CATS DEMOLISH NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP HOPES OF OSU
Yes, as the swirling chants by the majority Ohio State Buckeye fans traveled around Northwestern's Ryan Field on a brisk Saturday evening, the home team Wildcat fans were livid. Take over our stadium with red, sure; but don't start your O-H-I-O- stuff here. It seemed to fire up the NU football players as well, because the Wildcats took it to the Number 6 ranked Buckeyes.
After the game, as the purple-clad fans stormed the field, the chant was heard from them: "Oh. NO! Oh-Hio!" The Buckeye fans should have taken note, as when Michigan fans did the same a few years earlier, echoing the stands with their "GO BLUE" chant, whereas after the Wolverines dramatic last second loss to the 'Cats, the NU fans chanted, "GO HOME".
Hang Jeff Davis on a sour apple tree
Down went McGinty to the bottom of the sea
She's my Annie, and I'm her Joe,
So listen to my tale of
(Whoah!)
Any ice today lady?
No.
Giddyup!
Verse 1: Come all ye loyal classmen now
In hall and campus through,
Lift up your hearts and voices
For the Royal Red and Blue
Fair Harvard has her crimson
Old Yale her colors too,
But for dear Pennsylvania
We wear the Red and Blue.
Refrain: Hurrah, hurrah Pennsylvania!
Hurrah for the Red and the Blue!
Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah, hurrah,
Hurrah for the Red and Blue!
Verse 2: One color's in the blushing rose
The other tints the clouds
And when together both disclose
We're happy as the gods
We ask no other emblem
No other sign to view
We only ask to see and cheer
Our colors Red and Blue
(Refrain)
Verse 3: And when in all the years to come
In midst of toil and care
We'll get inspiration
From our colors waving there
And when to all our college life
We've said our last ado
We'll never say ado to thee
Our colors Red and Blue.
Go U Northwestern break right through that line
With our colors flying we will cheer you all the time (U rah rah!)
Go U Northwestern fight for victory
Spread far the fame of our fair name
Go Northwestern win that game
Drink a Highball at nightfall
Be good fellows while you may
For tomorrow may bring sorrow
So tonight, lets all be Gay!
Tell the story of Glory
Of Pennsylvania
Drink a highball And be jolly Here's a toast to dear old Penn!
