Unhappy

Although I am not much of a baseball fan anymore, it still saddens me to see the Expos go south. I think this is a loss not only for the city of Montreal, but all of Canada. Why can't other pro sports (besides hockey) exist in other Canadian cities besides Toronto?

Same reason hockey can't exist in the US of America -- people don't get it.

I get it...we have the most successful Northern League team...just not the population base to support the kind of payroll needed to be successful in the Majors.

Major League Baseball = Deep Pocket (lots of deep pockets)

I am sad too...lets jump in the time machine and bring back that 94 team....damn strike!!!!!!!!

Charles Bronfman sold the club in the late 80's because he could see that he soon wouldn't have the resources to maintain a competitive team. That was the beginning of the end. Although the team was able to produce some great players, there was a lack of stable ownership and talent was lost to free agency or traded for prospects. As such, there was no longer any reason to keep this team in a city that can't afford MLB.

Too bad. I grew up in Montreal and have always been an Expo fan. I can't bring myself to cheer for the Blue Jays, and I think that they might be headed along the same road of perpetual 'rebuilding' that the Expos have been on for so long.

I have heard numerous opinions of why the Expos failed such as poor ownership, a crappy stadium, etc. were contributers to why the fans stopped going to games. It's too bad all around I guess.

And Fish, if you guys don't like hockey, leave our players and teams in Canada!

All that said, "Au revoir" still means that you're holding out hope "to see them again". Wouldn't "adieu" be more appropriate in this situation?
