2004 NLDS Game 6, Cards and Astros. Got to go to the game, Cards were facing elimination and came back to tie the game, and Jim Edmonds homered in the bot of the 12th to win it. Awesome game, but then they got crushed by the Sox in the World Series.
September 7, 2003. Carolina Panthers v Jacksonville Jaguars. Panthers down 17-0 at halftime. Rodney Peete benched for Jake Delhomme. Panthers rally for 24-23 win on a twelve-yard TD pass from Delhomme to Ricky Proehl with sixteen seconds left in the game. I had tickets on the forty-yard line about ten rows up. Best live sports moment I've ever seen as an in-person spectator.

I've been watching some of my son, Brian's high school wrestling tapes while rowing lately so I'm going to throw a vote his way. In his last career dual meet match, 2004 PA High School Team Championship Tournament, his coach asked him to drop a weight class to get the best team match ups. He was wrestling one of the best kids on the other team. Brian started out with a very nice low single take-down attempt. The other kid countered him with a very unorthodox move and put him on his back, twice. Score 7-0, losing. They go back and forth for the rest of the 1st and 2nd periods, score losing 13-6 to start the 3rd. Other guy chooses bottom position to start the period. Bad move, Brian is a beast from top. Brian immediately puts the kid on his back for 3 points, but gets out of position and gives up a 2 point reversal. Score, losing 15-9 with about 1:00 remaining. About 20 seconds later Brian reverses the other guy right to his back and has him almost pinned when the bastard screams and taps out. The ref stops the match with 20 seconds left. Score, 2 point reversal, 3 near fall, and 1 for scream rule, 15-15. The Giant Center is going nuts. Brian's coach signals him to cut his opponent loose, giving him 1 point, and try to win with a 2 point take-down. Brian waves him off, takes the top position and immediately tilts the kid onto his back for 3 points, then rides him out for the win. Score, wins 18-15. By now almost everyone, including the fans from 16 other teams are on their feet applauding.
Sorry, if this seems like bragging. But I still get goosebumps and a little tear in my eye when I watch this match, five years later.

Can anybody explain to me the 'scream rule'... I looked it up but it seemed to suggest you get an extra point for injury or excessive bleeding. Surely I've read that wrong, especially at high school level???
We don't have any 'proper' wrestling here in schools. Looks fantastic though, I would have taken it as an option I think (over rugby)

If a wrestler is on his back, in danger of being pinned, and screams or taps out because he is in pain or can't breath the referee is required to stop the match and allow him to recover, using his injury time. The referee awards the back points plus 1 additional point for the "scream." The match is the restarted in a standard referees position. The controversy is always whether the screamer was really hurting or just trying to stop the match and get off his back. The referee has no choice but to stop the match as the wrestlers safety is most important. At the college level you almost have to have a bone sticking through the skin to get the call.
