I think there are plenty of more important things going on today that we need to worry about, besides him smoking some weed. I vote we randomly drug test politicians, Im willing to bet they would get busted with alot more than weed. If he wants to unwind after working hard (shit, he won gold medals, more than most people do), smoke a little weed, sip on a beer or two, why not? I know I do. Its not the weed or drink that makes a person lazy or non-productive, its the person themselves.
Besides, all work and no play isnt very healthy imo.
I don't use or have ever used pot, but from my experience of knowing people it can be used just like alcohol - something you do responsibly on the weekend. An ex of mine in college very occasionally smoked pot with her sister. Both graduated with 4.0s from college. They told me they smoked in HS with the guy who ended up being valedictorian. And that the guy in HS basically smoked every day.
Slackers or f'ups are probably going to be that way regardless of whether pot is involved.
I hear ya. Legalizing it could result in less crime and more time for police to patrol for other reasons, not to mention add some revenue to the economy, provided the one's who need to work actually take a break from smoking and go to work.
That guy in HS smoked everyday? Lol wow. How about college? In HS you have a raw determination to be a rebel and still function in society, however I've noticed when you get older you mature a bit, stop caring what other people thing as much, and don't necessarily get added motivation from being a HS rebel. My theory; you smoke everyday in college, you take twice as long to graduate.
“A tabloid published a picture of Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps at a party taking a huge hit from a bong. I think there’s an important lesson to be learned here: Kids, never share your pot with someone who has the lung capacity of a dolphin.”

I talked about this with my wife the other night, and while I dont see that he did anything really wrong, he probably should have been more careful.
I mean, it is illegal, and even though I dont agree that it should be, he is a role model for kids, so he should have been more careful of his actions around others I suppose. Having children of my own now, has changed my thought process a little bit I guess.
Joe Rogan did have a pretty funny letter to Kelloggs though (about canceling Phelps)..not sure if anyone saw it or not.
Kellogg's actually had a legal out in the contract once Phelps said that he wasn't sure about 2012. If Phelps keeps the commitment to 2012, Kellogg's likely keeps him on, but since he does this AND is wavering on participating? Well, what's the point for them to keep paying him?
