The Daytona 500 always is a letdown. This one especially.

This sucks. It would have been a hell of a finish.

I still can't believe that they called it with a Roush car in the lead. Did they forget who owns the 17? WTF is the world coming to?

I hear you. But in all honesty, I'm over the entire 'wild thing' comments. I'd like to punch anybody that calls him that.

Really? DW is the one that calls Buschie that. If you watched the early part of the 500, you must have turned the sound down.

It's nice that the 5 car can continue being the 'R&D' team for Hendick. Ugh.

Hey Rick, would you stop putting all the shitty parts in Mark's car? mmmmmm ok?

Hard to rack up points when you're in the garage. Kinda funy that the 'golden boys' haven't had any engine failures.

makes sense though

5 and 88 are in the same shop (three engine failures)

24 and 48 in the same shop (zero engine failures)

Agreed. But, the engines are all coming from a single source...unless the 5 and 88 have something going on differently with respect to engines. I fail to believe that Mark is harder on his equipment than the golden boys.

Hell yes. Now to finish the job on Sunday.

Quote:
Martin to start Atlanta on pole
Mark Martin was fastest in practice Friday at Atlanta Motor Speedway. In qualifying, he was the only driver to top 187 mph to claim the pole for Sunday's Kobalt Tools 500.

not happening.

though I will say that if a car outside of the top 14 starting spots wins Sunday, it will be Edwards. Otherwise, all of the good cars and drivers are at the front.

Quote:
BRISTOL, Tenn. -- A week away from the racetrack gave Mark Martin the break he needed from his disastrous start to the season.
It certainly didn't slow him down.
Martin won his second straight pole Friday with a lap of 125.773 mph around Bristol Motor Speedway, giving him the top starting spot in consecutive races for the first time in 20 years.
Two weeks ago in Atlanta, the 50-year-old Martin became the second oldest driver in NASCAR history to win the pole. That pole had been Martin's first since May 5, 2001, at Richmond.
"It's the [No.] 5 car," Martin said in giving all the credit to his Hendrick Motorsports crew. "We have learned so much through each individual event that man, I feel good. We unloaded here rolling."
Now, if we can just have a little racing luck to finish a race.

31st!

Joey is perilously on the edge of the top 35 AND has never turned a lap at Martinsville in either the Busch* or Cup series. Oh boy.

Martinsville will be interesting. Joey didn't need that blown engine and I didn't want a caution at the end of the Bristol race. It was fixing to get interesting for Shrub without it.

Ha! Nice April Fools Joke on their part.

It will be interesting to see how the bailout affects advertising in the long run.

The only positive thing I can say is that I'm glad it wasn't Kyle Busch.
