Default Are you ready for some football?

Anyone else excited for football to start? I love this time of year. I love upsets and the excitement of it all. I really love college, but am also an NFL fan.

Anyone else?

Me too, got some Penn State tics, probably catch a Pitt game and plan on spending every Sunday in front of the TV.

I love this time of year....even being a Lions fan. But hey! We are 3-0 in the preseason so anything is possible! Or another "fun" Lions season.

I pity myself and my fellow Chiefs fans.

At least the Cowboys are good.

Thanks, but that doesn't help. I'm afraid, much like baseball season, KC fans are in for a long football season too.
Herm Edwards just isn't showing me much of anything as a coach. Nick, are they calling for his head down there yet?

The Steelers? I am crossing my fingers for the possibility to get to go to the Browns/Steelers game (at Cleveland). It's always fun to be go there and deal with those fans, wearing the black and gold.
I really enjoy watching Penn State and I am glad that we aren't playing you guys this year. LOL

Ahh, pre-season doesn't count, at least that is what I am telling myself.

I work with a diehard Lions fan. You guys looked pretty good against the Browns.

Boomer Sooner.

I'm a Cowboy fan, but have become partial to Minnesota's running game for obvious reasons.

My son just graduated from Pitt, so we'll try to plan a visit to see him and a Pitt game at the same time. His best friend plays at Penn State. I have tickets for the Oregon State and Illinois games at Happy Valley. This will be the last year that I actually know any players from both schools, so I'm really into this season. I'd love to see Pitt and Penn State play each other again. It would be great for both schools.

A Lions fan is going to say something about the Texans. Wow! As bad as you guys are I would figure that misery loves company.

I long ago came to accept that the Lions front office will not allow for sustained success. No expectations = less misery.

Living in Indy during the Manning/Dungy years helps soften the blow, too.

Watching Peyton through Harrison and now Wayne would make it easier for me as well. Instead I get them twice a year. Not nice.

Gotcha! I just have some love for Joe Pa and the way he runs his program. We (no tomatoes, please - Notre Dame) actually are playing Pitt this year, so that should be exciting.

Ahh, I just love it. I've got the Tivo all set up for College Gameday and I plan to relish it. The excitement of it all.

I think this will be an interesting year for UCONN football if anybody follows the Big East. Hopefully should be business as usual for the Patriots, from what I hear, their camp is understandably pretty upset about the way last season turned out. Can't wait!

The show found that since 2002, 46 Penn State players have been charged with 163 criminal complaints. Forty-five of those complaints resulted in guilty pleas or convictions. Of the 46 players charged, 27 pleaded guilty or were convicted.
More recently, to show the problem is getting worse, 17 players were charged in 2007 with 72 crimes. Nine charges resulted in guilty pleas. The numbers screamed about a lack of control by the coaching staff and a lack of discipline by the players.

Yikes!! I didn't know this. Not good. I was thinking about the players he made clean the stadium after the games. Maybe that story got more coverage?

It's hard to watch the kiddies when you have to get a solid 17 hours every night

Say.... I was watching some t.v. tonight and saw a commercial that made me shiver. Since it's football season (very soon anyway) does that mean we're going to have to see those stupid Oreo commercials with Peyton and Eli? I saw my first one of the season tonight.

I would have Brett Favre's babies if he could lead the Jets over the Patriots in even one of their two matchups this year.

Probably. I had to call DirectTv to talk them about our channels and of course, I was on hold. During that 10 minutes, there were recorded messages from both Eli and Peyton talking about the NFL Sunday ticket. Of course, the first time it happened, I got all excited thinking someone was answering my call.

I called to cancel my Sunday Ticket last weekend, and got offered an additional $5 off per month from my "already discounted rate." Didn't take it, no time this year - but same thing happened last year when my wife called to cancel. She got something like $100 off and decided to keep it.

This will be the first year in 4 seasons, we won't have it. I know I'll regret it, but we have a Steelers bar pretty close by that we can go crash, when the issue of not seeing a game, comes up.
Every time I call to rearrange our package, they offer me something that always makes me feel better about being a customer with them.

Yup. I'm not a big fan of theirs otherwise. We got the super fan package because of some complaint we had last year.
