Yep, he's done for the season.

ESPN - Patriots' Brady to undergo surgery, miss remainder of season - NFL

Watch over the next few weeks and imagine things with Brees, Eli or Peyton, McNabb, Hasselbeck, etc. Yup, basically the same result!)

Matt Ryan from BC did well.

yep, we all see how good the colts did with Peyton who was rusty. I can only imagine if someone had less talent than manning and came into the game. They probably would have won, right?

Saying that any team can with without a good qb is funny. If this were the case, the ravens would be in the patriots position the past few years.

QB is the leader of the team. Whether you like brady or not, you can't deny he's an awesome qb. Do you think any qb can come off the bench and lead their team to an undefeated season? Or the most TD passes?

This is coming from me, who is not a patriot fan.

Re-read and try again.

I wrote:

"No, they won't be as good with Cassell, but Cassell's not proven to even be mediocre, let alone good."

The point is, even with an unproven, probably mediocre QB like Cassell, they were able to win. Now imagine (like I said above) one of the proven QB's of the league in Cassell's position!

Of course a team needs a good QB. But this team can go 10-6 or even 11-5 with this backup QB. Belichick+defense+Randy Moss+good running game = wins.

I mean, who knows? - Cassell could end up being AWFUL, and they'll be done. But if he just plays moderately well like he did against the Chiefs, you'll see that the Pats' success is mostly Bellichick, and Brady is only an all-star, not a god.

Roger Maris hit 61 homers in 1961, and the Yankees won the World Series. Was Roger Maris the greatest homerun hitter of all-time at that point? Even though he'd never come close to the record before, or the fact that Mickey Mantle hit behind him in the lineup? Or was he just really good, on a great team?

Tom Brady didn't have a legit receiver until last year...yet he's a bum? Get over yourself dude...Big Ben doesn't hold Tom's jock. He throws like what 12 passes a game?

...and it's funny because I'm not even a Patriots fan, I just enjoy good football.

In the post above, I called him an all-star... not exactly the same as calling him a "bum".

Big Ben is good. Not great, but good. 3000+yards, 30+ TD's and 100+ passer rating last year. Nearly 30 attempts per game over the last two years. Hardly a jock-strap holder.

I realize that you're all ready to defend Brady - and you know I despise the guy - but all I'm saying (all I've ever said) is that he's just one of the good QB's in the league, and a beneficiary of a great coach and system. Overrated, not bad. I've seen anywhere between 12-20 Pats games every year since he's been playing, and I'm telling you, I've seen his equal in several other QB's.

However, he is pretty, he does stay out of trouble, and he is the darling of the media. So I'll give you guys that.

Anyway, I'm going to try and drop this issue now. I argued it all last season, and you guys know what I think. I know what I see, and I know you guys disagree. Now he's not even playing... so let's just drop it and talk about other guys in the league if you'd like.

Sorry. Switching gears back to college. Wonderful day of college ball. Finishing up my day with a great game between OSU and the all mighty USC. Go Trojans! (and that is the only time you will hear me say that!)

Plenty of good action yesterday. I saw a few Op-ed pieces that are saying that now that the Redskins got past the Cowboys, that they are the 'real deal'. I'm a Redskins fan, but that seems a little premature.

Okay, why the hell did Herm Edwards leave Huard in so long? I mean, at 24-0 or whenever that second INT happened, Thigpen should've been in there to get more reps. KC has some serious QB issues, even when Brodie Croyle is healthy. It's like last year's Panthers, just without a defense, either

Hey Ginger, guess who my son met while celebrating his 23rd birthday at about 1:00AM Saturday morning in a Pittsburgh club? I'll give you a hint.......there's a clock named after him in London.

Ah! That is too exciting. Was it this past Saturday? Was he nice? Hines Ward is one that I would just love to meet.
I just love those boys and am so glad they pulled it off Sunday night, even if I was dragging butt all day, yesterday.

Yes, it was this Friday/Saturday. Apparently, Ben's still young enough to party Friday, fly Saturday and play well on Sunday. He said he was a good guy. They talked for about 5 minutes, but no pics. I guess he learned that from Matt Lienertt.

Good stuff, Bill.

Still loving the Gaints btw. My dad is looking to a retirement vacation villa in FL so he says I should change to the TB Bucs - no chance. I pledged allegiance well before the playoffs so I’m not a band wagon fan.....honest

LOL! Yes, I remember the days of being able to pull off the late nights, even though I never had anything as strenuous as an NFL game to do the next day!
That is just a cool story. Thanks for sharing it with me!

Lots of good college games on this weekend!

Yaaah, you betcha. PSU vs Wisky Saturday night. Watch for PSU's fullback, #33. He is my son's best friend. He rarely get the ball but he blocks like a battering ram.

Bill, we don't get college games here - am I right to assume PSU is Penn State? Not that it matters as I won't see it
