A 4-hour College Football Live show on ESPN2. I love hearing their (Mark May, Lou Holtz an I don't know the other guy's name) predictions for the year. And of course, hearing May's complete distain for my team. Gets me fired up! LOL

What are they making you pay this year, Gabe? $200 plus Superfan?
I can't afford it. If I could get others to go in on it with me, I'd do it, but since it's all on me this year I have to pass. We've had it the last two years and love the Red Zone channel.

Unlike the Bills (nfl) the Buckeye's do win the big game now and then. They have what 7 national titles? Not too shabby.
You mean unlike the Browns *cough* fumble *cough* drive *cough*.
Seriously, stick Ohio State in the SEC and they're barely an above average team. It's only because they play in the Big, well hell, it's not even the Big 2 anymore, that they have the end of season ranking that they do. I think they'd have a tougher schedule if they played in the MAC. Ask anyone outside the Midwest and they have one word for Ohio State:
Overrated.

A: You're full of shit. The Browns (typically) fail, long before the big game.
B: The 10 *is* weak...what that has to do with me being a fan I have no clue. People keep forgetting that 2002 (last title) wasn't so long ago. that for what ever reason. IMO the weak division is part of the reason that they haven't been doing as well in the bowls recently. It's not really that they don't have the talent, they're just not consistently required to perform at their best.
I know they're not as awesome as SC...who has never won a title...ever...ever...ever...a nd would never be accused of being over rated, but whatcha gonna do?
I think it's closer to 3 and we canceled Superfan. I don't need it that much.
Yikes. However, I couldn't have it without Superfan. Full-blown HD snob here.

Overrated? Yes. Good? Yes. Very good? Yes.
The SEC gets slobbered on way too much. Pound for pound they're a good conference, probably the best in the country, but the Big 12 is very close behind.
SEC
Georgia > Oklahoma
Florida < Missouri
LSU > Texas
Tennessee < Texas Tech
Alabama < Kansas
South Carolina > Nebraska
Auburn > Oklahoma State
Mississippi State < Kansas State
Kentucky < Colorado
Arkansas < Texas A&M
Mississippi > Iowa State
Vanderbilt > Baylor
I see it as 6 and 6. Of course, a lot can be debated, and the SEC rankings are off the top of my head. However, I don't think the SEC is as much better than anyone else as everyone thinks they are.

Big 10 is going to get better with Rich Rod in the league now. The league had been very resistant go to to a nontraditional football approach (spread, spread option... types of offenses in other conferences) and it showed in bowl games, especially with Ohio State. Now that there's that type of offense in the league and as Michigan gets the athletes to fit the scheme, the rest of the league will have to adjust and you'll see the conference get better in relation to the rest of the country.

That's a misconception. 10 of 11 Big 10 teams ran some variation of the spread offense last year. Michigan is actually one of the last to try it out.
Yeah... the Big 10 was down last year, but this stuff is cyclical. They'll be back. In fact, I think the depth of the league will surprise people this year.
Ohio State and Michigan have great traditions and great all-time records. But their success comes largely from playing in a Big 10 Conference that is historically weak. (Hence the nickname Big 2 and Little 8.) That success doesn't translate into national success. Ohio State has a .714 winning percentage but is 18-21 in bowl games. Against the SEC they're even worse. Michigan with their .745 winning percentage is 19-20 in bowl games. Compare that with Alabama which has a .706 winning percentage and is 31-21-3 bowl record.
Ohio State vs. SEC in Bowl Games
0-9
1978 Sugar Bowl: Alabama 35, Ohio State 6 - Woody Hayes
1990 Hall Of Fame Bowl: Auburn 31, Ohio State 14 - John Cooper
1993 Citrus Bowl: Georgia 21, Ohio State 14 - John Cooper
1995 Citrus Bowl: Alabama 24, Ohio State 14 - John Cooper
1996 Citrus Bowl: Tennessee 20, Ohio State 14 - John Cooper
2001 Outback Bowl: South Carolina 24, Ohio State 7 - John Cooper
2002 Outback Bowl: South Carolina 31, Ohio State 28 - Jim Tressel
2007 BCS Championship: Florida 41, Ohio State 14 - Jim Tressel
2008 BCS Championship: LSU 38, Ohio State 24 - Jim Tressel

The whole time?
OSU didn't run a spread, and neither did Wisconsin nor Penn State. (in the games I saw)
Trying it out I can believe, but as a whole offense, I can't say that I noticed it.

Becaue the way that the bowls are set up, you're going to be playing a team that is more than likely equal to your ability, therefore it can easily be pointed out that Alabama is an outlier while OSU and Michigan are on the downslope of the bell curve. (the idea that theoretically most teams should be at .500 in bowl games. Obviously not perfect, but I don't think its very far from the truth either.)
I don't think that using just OSU is a very good point to say that the SEC is better than the Big Ten. The Outback Bowl and Citrus Bowls involve the #3-5 teams in the conference (#2 in the Citrus if two other teams aren't in the BCS). One team in a different spot in the conference really doesn't make a compelling argument for the strength of that team's conference vs. the opponent.

I heard the 10 out of 11 thing in a Big 10 media day quote somewhere. Maybe they actually said that 10 out of 11 teams will use some variation of the spread this year.

You're right. My point is that the belief that the Big 10 is still in the stone age when it comes to offensive inovation is exaggerated.

They're not in the stone age by any means. But they're not running the spread, which is what all the cool kids are doing.

Brady went down, hopefully for the season. (Don't worry, Tom, you can still do underwear spreads in Mens Health with a torn ACL!)
Cassell came in, threw two BIG passes to Moss, helping win the game and move one step closer to proving that any good QB in that system with that defense and that coaching and Randy Moss can win. (No, they won't be as good with Cassell, but Cassell's not proven to even be mediocre, let alone good. Watch over the next few weeks and imagine things with Brees, Eli or Peyton, McNabb, Hasselbeck, etc. Yup, basically the same result!)
