Default MLB Trade Deadline

Pudge was traded for Kyle Farnsworth today.

This sucks.

So are the Tigers just giving it up? I'm a Twins fan, and didn't think the Tigers were that far out if yet. Only 5.5 back and you really have to wonder if the White Sox and Twins have it in them down the stretch.

My Braves need to build for the future. ::sigh::

No, Pudge sucks. Inge is a comparable replacement, and they got a headcase but decent reliever instead of the compensation that Pudge was going to bring after the season. (most likely as a type B free agent.)

Remember, Pudge got struck out by Tony Pena Jr.

(and with the way that Rodney is pitching, Farnsworth could be the closer in a few days. . No way that Zumaya shouldn't be.)

Pudz has been cold this year. I don't have a lot of trust in Farnsworth though. I remember his days with the cubs, and he seemed to blow a lot of games.

Overall, one eh player for another eh player.

Cubs should have traded for a middle reliever/closer for some prospects. Although when wood comes off the DL they'll have Wood and shark to use as they please.

I think Boston's in good shape. I'm glad they haven't traded manny mid season. They should trade him at the end of the season though. I really like him as a red sox. If they pick up Bay now, it would be a sweet deal on their part. They get someone who's hot this season, when manny hasn't been, when manny's probably going to be gone at the end of the season anyway. This way they're getting a hot bat in their lineup. Their bats are cold now, which sucks, but they have the potential to really heat up.

Those are the only 2 teams i really follow. Yankees seem to be making a real push for the division or wild card though. Picking up Nady a few days ago, and then picking up Pudz now. I have a feeling it will be Boston/Rays though and the yankees will be left in the cold.

Rays are looking at Dunn which would suck though. Hopefully that doesn't go through.

I get tired of all of Pudge's strike outs and his lack of walks, but a Pudge/Inge 60/40 platoon was much better than full-time Inge IMO. Inge's batting avergage hasn't been over .230 all year. I know they have similar OPS #'s, but losing Pudge will be a bigger blow than most people think.

Mainly, I hate to see him go because I'm nostalgic about his contributions to the team. The Pudge signing got the ball rolling and pointed the Tigers in the right direction for the 1st time in 15 years. Anytime you lose a Hall of Famer that had that kind of impact on your team, it sucks.

As for Farnsworth, he should be an upgrade in a pretty weak bullpen. I don't really have a lot of confidence in any of their relievers right now.

The Manny trade talk is crazy to me.

The Sox have been putting up with his act forever, and now they suddenly have had enough? In the middle of a pennant race? I think they'd be silly to trade him right now. As much of a headache as he can be, he's still their best player. He's the guy I would want in their in clutch playoff situations... not Jason Bay or whoever they'd get in return.

Nobody is talking about the Astros picking up Wolf?

What was Ed Wade thinking?

Griffey to CWS? They are talking about him playing CF and basically taking AB's from Konerko. I hope it works out, I think Jr. is a great player.

The Red Sox might as well trade Manny. He's fallen out of favor and you know that they're not going to pick up his option next year, so trading him at the end of the year is pointless. The two first round picks as a type A free agent is nice, but the Red Sox need to play for now, so if they can get Bay or someone, then they should go for it. No sense in dragging this saga on.

That was stupid. Wolf has a 6.22 ERA outside of PETCO.

And I think the Braves just positioned themselves very well for the future. The IF is young, except for Chipper, and so is the OF. Jurrjens is a great future ace, and there are a handful of good starters in that rotation they've been bouncing back and forth to Richmond. They'll be okay in a few years, and I think Kotchman is a GREAT piece to build around. If Frenchy can remove his head from his arse, that's a tough middle of the lineup with him, McCann and Kotchman. I like the move.

Supposedly, they saw something in his delivery they think they can fix. Whatever. They guy didn't even qualify for the win in his first outing before he got shelled.

it is kind of weird, but i get the impression that the chemistry isn't there anymore. Manny and Youklis got in a fight in the dugout midseason, where you wouldn't have seen this prior.

During my years here, I've seen how they (the Red Sox) have mistreated other great players when they didn't want them to try to turn the fans against them. "The Red Sox did the same with guys like Nomar Garciaparra and Pedro Martinez, and now they do the same with me. Their goal is to paint me as the bad guy. I love Boston fans, but the Red Sox don't deserve me. I'm not talking about money. Mental peace has no price, and I don't have peace here."

Hey the Astros got LaTroy Hawkins. WTF. What does Ed Wade know that the rest of the world doesn't. The Cubs get Harden, the Brewers get CC and our answer is Hawkins and Wolf.

My point exactly. They should be rebuilding. They need to be stocking the farm system.
