(I love these last 24 hours before hammer time!)

It's his way of giving them the finger...I'm surprised they left Maurice behind the bench when John Jr. was let go....there is more fighting in the front office than on the ice with this Leafs org.

There are some teams in the west that need some help Calgary, Vancouver, Ducks....the AVs would do well to unload some cap room to keep the young talent.

I'm not sure what Calgary needs. The kick in the ass Keenan gave them about a week ago seems to have worked wonders (he had one of his old-fashioned garbage can- and stick-throwing, yelling days).

I'm not so sure they'll move Tanguay. Look for Huselius or Nilsson to move.

NYI is shopping Satan and Comrie around. Habs are looking to move Ryder (long rumoured to be on his way here).

Where will Jokinen end up? And will Ottawa make a move for a goalie?

Calgary needs more speed on defense and secondary scoring...I can see nillson for ryder...it would be ironic if Ryan Smyth became a Flame

Oh gosh, I don't know if the poor bastards up north could handle it. They damn near had a heart attack when Steve Smith and Grant Fuhr signed on here.

Couldn't get TSN up. I have Sportsnet running on broadband.

It's been a bit of a busy day.

Richards to Dallas. Jokkinen to Tampa.
Huet to Washington. Montreal is hanging their hat on Price.
Foot back to Colorodo.
Canes and Hawks swap Ladd and Ruutu. Big gain for Chicago.

Yeah, no blockbuster yet. Still waiting for news on Hossa. Last rumour was that Montreal was getting him.

Waiting for Sutter to pull the trigger on something here, too.

Fedorov to Washington for a prospect.

That's probably the biggest name yet, aside from Richards.

Hard to believe Toronto hasn't done anything. It's high time for a fire sale ... unless they'll wait until the draft to do that and start picking up prospects.

And Pittsburgh, too.

Get a friggin' defence already.

So T.O. dumps Gill for a second and a fifth pick. Good for Pittsburgh. He's strong and reliable.

The Leafs need all the picks they can collect.

They get a good forward and another young up and comer. I think they are hoping Esposito continues on the Crosby/Malkin line of young good players.

Option time:

What was the best/biggest trade?

IMHO - Richards to Dallas, I would say Federov to Washington, but not certain if that is really going to help them in the long run

holy crap. This kid Smith from Tampa Bay has played with fire 4 times here in the 3rd period and the rangers have not capitalized on any of them. 4 times he has misplayed the puck coming out of the net and each time he has either made a ridiculous recovery, or as was the case with the last instance, Picard comes sliding across the crease to save the day. Wow.

Pronger is and alway will be an ass. I watched him in the days when he played in Peterboro and he was an ass then. I think he should have got more, but what can you do. They really need to crack down and call more penalties.

Personality is not synomynous with talent in his case....too many talented kids/adults have been coodled on their way up that they have zero character to carry them through life.

I don't think he is that good a defense man either. I think he is way too overrated, and being dirty is part of his intimidation, which needs to be quashed.

You're right...a fast team that can get in deep on him handcuffs him...A big fast power forward pushing his mouche in the glass is a great sight.

Colin Campbell was interviewed on a NYTimes (I think) blog the other day, justifying the suspension. If I can dig up the link, I'll post it.

Essentially, though, he says all of Pronger's acts have happened in the course of playing hockey. In comparison, Simon's acts have been more rage incidents, outside the realm of normal play.

Frankly, I think Campbell has a dartboard with a bunch of numbers on it and just throws a dart whenever he needs to come up with a suspension.

Or, he's just a star-fucker.

Pronger keeps getting more and more suspensions. He has had a couple of 1 gamers in the last couple of playoffs. When will the league finally deem him a dirty player? When he has a Bertuzzi-type incident?

Most likely the same reason the Blackhawks owned us this year. We finally beat them the last time we played. It is strange how some teams just have the other teams number. It surely isn't because of bad goaltending!
